You're all dancing around the kitchen to The Specials and your teenagers know all the words Grin

Oh my, that takes me back 😂

Your 11yo loves Metallica and New Model Army, and cares so much about orangutans that he refuses all biscuits/cakes because they have palm oil in.

Your (then) 12yo cooks supper for herself and her brother because you are so ill with flu you can't lift your head off the pillow...and when she burns the rice because she's never cooked before eats that part and gives the nice bit to her little brother.

WhatAWonderfulDay · 04/06/2020 21:26

Awwww... These are lovely.

My ds (14 and 9) have made a rota of rumba-vacuuming the whole house every week between themselves entirely of their own accord. (Not quite in the same league as the others but it's lovely hearing them discussing who does what while I relax with my feet up).

PunishmentSnart · 04/06/2020 22:06

@Chillipeanuts I’m not crying I’ve been chopping onions Wink go you for being so inspirational to them

SuckingDownDarjeeling · 04/06/2020 22:11

Your toddlers get excited when they see broccoli Smile

Dowser · 04/06/2020 22:28

...your 15 old son comes out to the car , especially to thank me, his nana, for leaving a tenner for ice creams last week

He said thank you so beautifully I thought I was going to cry

Dowser · 04/06/2020 22:29

Grandson..not son lol

nevergoingoutagain · 04/06/2020 22:45

You bust out some prophets of rage lyrics and your 13 year old sings back the riff. 🤘🏻

Sheepareawesome · 04/06/2020 22:50

Your 11 year old hears a song on Horrible Histories and asks you if the music is AC/DC Highway to hell. Yes, yes it is.

justforthecake · 04/06/2020 22:56

You come home from work with a stinking headache feeling sorry for yourself and your 12&13 yr old girls bring you tea, paracetamol and make dinner.

magimedi · 04/06/2020 23:05

Your adult DC, who lives in another country rings you every day and sends you a photo of your precious grand children.

Must have got something right somewhere along the line.

Fishfingersandwichplease · 04/06/2020 23:20

When hour daughter loads the cutlery into the dishwasher and divides it all up so forks together, spoons together, knives together! Just how mummy likes it for when she unloads it!

Fatted · 04/06/2020 23:23

When your two year old corrects his father on the pronunciation of dinosaur names. DH still hasn't lived this one down five years later. Grin

I also think I knew I was doing parenting right when my youngest told me that I was embarrassing him in public. I reminded him that is my job for the rest of his life Grin

CaughtInAnnette · 04/06/2020 23:25

Your primary age kids can identify the Wilhelm Scream in any film.

BillyAndTheSillies · 04/06/2020 23:53

When you catch your four year old whisper to their baby sibling that they'll take care of them and love them forever.

When a parent you don't know tells you at a party that your four year old says hello to them every morning at nursery and takes their shy child by the hand and always sits with them at breakfast when they're sad.

When the only way you can calm your baby is by singing The Smiths.

Solongtoshort · 05/06/2020 00:45

Well lm failing miserably here

My 4 year old makes me walk the plank if l am late home.
Is waiting for me to die so she can have my jewels (lm only 44 and only have my engagement ring).
Since lockdown has changed her mind from being a chef/ fire engine driver to wanting to be a pirate and no when we have accidents she says “oh well worse things happen” because mummy says it even though she drew on our new window sill with blue felt tip, l hate my self for ever muttering those words.

Ahh you think l am done it gets worse my 7 nearly 8 yo ds has 3 favourite songs Rocket man, that Toto Africa sing and a Katrina and the waves song. I hate Alexa because those bloody sing should be in the next level above of amazon music.

Never mind the kids going back to school, l obviously failed at this mum lark. Sorry for letting the team down by the sounds of it, it could be a different story in the teenage years.

DramaAlpaca · 05/06/2020 00:55

When your 25 year old DS tells you that he's so proud to have you as parents and that he and his brothers think we've done a great job (which he actually did, out of the blue, yesterday). It made me cry Grin

Crispsnatcher · 05/06/2020 01:11

When your 7 year old son comes put with "girls can be anything" and you say "did school teach you that?" and he said "no Mum, you did". This was yesterday.

He also said today he wants to raise money by playing music on his guitar and give it to charity.

When I ask what is his favourite music, he says Queen, Bon Jovi. And George Ezra.

Fred56 · 07/06/2020 00:29

When a school mum says how nice and caring your ds is for helping her son who has additional needs without being asked.

RobertSmithdoesmyhair · 07/06/2020 00:45

You have a garden festival- 8pm bbq, chat, candles, beers and an indie playlist chosen by them. And 4 hours later they are still with you in the garden!

WhittlingWinnie · 07/06/2020 00:49

Aww Chillipeanuts that's so lovely you've got me away 😪
Robertsmith..can totally relate with that, it's a joy to be in their company especially these days

RJnomore1 · 07/06/2020 00:51

When your 15yo is a decent human being that you actually enjoy spending time with.

MrsAvocet · 07/06/2020 01:16

When your really rather good cyclist son still wants to come out for bike rides with you and rides all the hills twice - up once at his pace and then down and back up by your side so you don't lose heart on the tough parts. And when he washes your bike as well as his own after every ride.
Rather more seriously, I was very proud when he stood up for a classmate who was being bullied, and then reported the bullies to the head of year, in the full knowledge that they would know it was him and would almost certainly retaliate.

boydoggies · 07/06/2020 01:21

When all 3dc cuddle up on the couch to watch a movie - doesn't happen often!
