Stemless champagne flutes

Hello all!
I’m looking to buy a set of stemless champagne flutes but am having trouble finding much choice. I like the look of the stainless steel ones as they can be used on picnics without having to worry about breaking them, but I’m not finding many.

Please help! I’ve googled but can’t find much. It’s a Father’s Day present.

Thank you Flowers

Amazon seem to have a lot of options, shatter proof ones and stainless steel ones.

PinkDaydreams · 03/06/2020 12:54

I must be typing the wrong thing in then as I can only find one steel set on amazon and then the rest are all glass. Can you tell me what you’ve typed in please as I’m trying ‘stemless champagne flutes/tumbler’.

Substitute flutes for glasses. There are loads of them.

Do you want flutes or glasses? I have stemless wine glasses but they still have a bottom so you can actually put them down. You wouldnt be bale to put a stemless flute down?
I used to have a toasting set, it was long stemmed flutes that went into an ice bucket. Got used once and went to the charity shop.

I think Morrison's has some the other day when I went in, maybe have a look at their website

YippeeKayakOtherBuckets · 03/06/2020 13:08

But surely your champagne would go warm and flat in a stemless glass?

HavelockVetinari · 03/06/2020 13:14

@YippeeKayakOtherBuckets

But surely your champagne would go warm and flat in a stemless glass?
This. The point of the long stem is to keep the champagne chilled!
YinMnBlue · 03/06/2020 13:18

I have just found loads by googling stemless champagne flutes.

I wouldn’t enjoy drinking it out if stainless steel.

JoeExoticsEyebrowRing · 03/06/2020 13:20

I don't get the point of stemless champagne flutes? Or the ones that have a stem but not bottom so you can't put them down?!

PinkDaydreams · 03/06/2020 13:21

I hadn’t thought of the fizz going warm without a stem, thank you! Glad I posted now!
I’m just trying to get something a bit quirky. The stainless steel ones would keep the drink cooler wouldn’t they?

turnthebiglightoff · 03/06/2020 13:23

They do have a bottom 🙄 and it's the shape of the flute that supports the taste of the drink. John Lewis has some OP.

Nitpickpicnic · 03/06/2020 13:23

Stemless takes all the joy and ritual out of bubbles, and toasting. And warms the wine, unless you’re throwing it back fast or live in an ice cave.

But hey, if it rocks your boat...

PinkDaydreams · 03/06/2020 13:26

I hadn’t thought of John Lewis, thank you! I buy a lot of Alessi from JL so should have thought to try there!
I’ve seen the glasses a few posters have mentioned, the ones with a stem but no bottom so you can’t put them down. I don’t fancy those, as others have said they aren’t practical.

I have a set from Wayfair, they're glass though.

PinkDaydreams · 03/06/2020 13:30

I’d like something to take out on picnics or use out in the garden without worrying they will crack/smash.

okiedokieme · 03/06/2020 13:34

I bought plastic flutes from Morrison's last year, they look and feel like conventional glasses though

PinkDaydreams · 03/06/2020 13:36

I hadn’t thought of supermarkets, I haven’t got a Morrison’s anywhere near me but I’ll try the local Sainsbury’s and asda next time I’m doing the food shop, thank you!

The White Company have beautiful ones!!!

PinkDaydreams · 03/06/2020 14:09

@Ginsmything I’ve seen those! I actually like those but only wanted 4 🤦🏻‍♀️

I drink wine and champagne out of whiskey tumblers. Blush Grin Too much personal experience of being a clumsy clot and knocking tall glasses over, so it is practicality for me, or that is my excuse anyway.

I’m very uncouth. My MIL would have been horrified at me, I should think.

RainMustFall · 03/06/2020 14:27

This may not bother you but I understand a glass of champagne or wine should be held by the stem so that the warmth from your hand doesn't change the ideal drinking temperature of the wine.

LynetteScavo · 03/06/2020 16:26

As others have said, champagne flutes traditionally have a stem so you can hold it with glut w arning the drink.

Wouldn't steel glasses take all the fun out of seeing the bubbles?
The white company has some nice glasses https://bc www.thewhitecompany.com/uk/Stemless-Champagne-Flutes--Set-of-4/p/GWHSC?shopping=true&cmmmc=Google+MobileeUKUKALLALLGOGOTWCTWCALLLLSmartPLAPLAHomemeAllHomeomeAllllPLAPLA--&ProGrpCode=AV394&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI0djj5fnl6QIVhrHtCh07eATgEAQYASABEgLh3fDD_BwE
