Haemerroid or something worse?

User24689 · 03/06/2020 06:17

Sorry, posted in health but no replies and panicking a bit. In shower last night have found a small lump near or possibly on anus. About pea size. Itches a bit. Hurts very slightly when I press on it but certainly not very painful.

I'm not pregnant, I haven't had constipation or anything.

The thing that is worrying me is I have a vague memory that I found this a few months ago - I know this sounds silly but was in the middle of house move/ very stressed at time and think I thought "I'd better keep an eye on that, maybe it's a haemerroid?" Then totally forgot until noticing it again now.

Do haemeroids hang around that long or come/ go in same place? Could it be a more sinister lump?

Sounds like piles. If it’s not bleeding or anything keep to a high fibre diet and plenty of water to keep poo soft. You can get creams from the chemists. Don’t worry, it happens. If you get some bleeding or pain you can ring the GP for advice. Hormones can cause them. Hope you feel better soon.

Could be a wart?

User24689 · 03/06/2020 08:40

Thank you! I didn't know hormones could cause them. Never had then before so no reference and thought they caused lots of discomfort/ bleeding but this is really mild discomfort and no bleeding. Sometimes I think I can only feel it as I know it's there!

It doesnt feel like a wart as is soft/ slightly squashy.

My GP said hormone related due to other changes at those times. Like pregnancy and periods when the body is likely to get swollen feet etc. I got a belter of a Rockford after getting my coil out. It had ruptured internally, caused a buildup of blood and then my skin split. GP explained it then packed me off to A+E 😂

My period has just come today!! I'm now feeling more relaxed, it must be what it is. I realise I must sound like a nutter but I've never had one before and finding a random lump is a bit scary!

Maybe this is just another of the many joys of getting older/ post DC life....

Have ordered ointment and fibergel! Will hold off bothering the doctor with my bum!

Thanks everyone.

It healed. I took up yoga and eat as many vegetables as I can fit in, don’t fancy a repeat that’s for sure! Glad you’re feeling a bit better.

Sounds all very normal for a haemorrhoid to me OP. Some good advice above - you definitely want to get more fibre in the diet. I've found that they crop up in the same place now and then, if there's been straining on the toilet or constipation or even heavy diarrhoea (I have bowel issues).

I'd just get some germoloids or anusol - with lidocaine in ans then if the itching restarts you can simply treat it early.

Any rectal bleeding with a bowel movement then always have a GP check things over.

Don't want to worry you UptheWolves but I had anal cancer which I thought was piles at first. Keep an eye on the lump and if it gets bigger or you have any bleeding please go and see your Dr. Better safe than sorry x

User24689 · 03/06/2020 12:49

Arrgh. Thanks user. What were your symptoms? How are you now? How awful for you X How can you tell the difference?

I'm fine now thanks Wolves, apparently it's an unusual cancer and easier to treat than some. I'd never heard of it so I like to give people a heads up to be aware.
Main symptom was the lump getting bigger pretty quickly and very sore, discomfort wasn't relieved by any pile treatment, then sitting down became painful, then a rectal discharge (sorry a bit TMI there)then later on there was rectal bleeding so fairly obvious something really wasn't right.
I really didn't want to scare you but I'd rather scare you for nothing just in case. Good luck and I hope it is just piles!

Hi user, thank you so much for sharing this and don't apologise for making me worry! It's good to make people aware of these things. Glad you're ok now. I will definitely look out for the things you mention.
