Do gp’s know when their patient has been sectioned

Does the amhp write to them with the outcome of the assessment?

I think so. GPs certainly get informed if their patient is admitted to hospital, or goes to A&E.
I'm sorry if this is happening to someone you are close to.

They should do - GP is normally contacted ASAP by pharmacy to check on any current medication/allergies/contraindications.

Yes, they should be informed (although it might be by letter so there may be a few days delay).

The admitting team should inform them also both at the point if admission and discharge.

I think generally they should but I know last summer I had been in hospital (mental health unit) for about 3 weeks when my GP phoned me to check how I was doing and she hadn't been notified of the admission, so it seems sometimes these things are overlooked. Hope you are ok.

They should as often they do the second medical recommendation as a,Doctor who knows the patient ,but even if they have,nt the psychiatrist should send a letter that should explain the treatment .
