Not an exciting thread. Just got sausages from fridge I bought on Saturday and they ran out (use by date) yesterday😮.

Would you risk cooking them for dinner tonight?

No I wouldnt.

Flamingolingo · 02/06/2020 09:11

I’d possibly stick them in the oven now - in theory they were ok until midnight, they didn’t spontaneously rot at midnight, just the chance of them being dangerous increases as time passes

They'll be fine

Yes I would use them

It's only a day - I'd use them.

BarbaraofSeville · 02/06/2020 09:15

Yes, without hesitation, as long as your fridge is at the correct temperature.

Pushmepullyou · 02/06/2020 09:15

I’d cook them now

cosmo30 · 02/06/2020 09:16

If they smell okay and look normal then use them. I think with things like that it's just common sense. If it was 3 days over then I'd definitely say no but one day isn't going to hurt.

Chillipeanuts · 02/06/2020 09:16

If you’re feeding adults and they smell fine (the sausages, not the adults 😁), I would. Cook really thoroughly, piping hot.
Wouldn’t risk it with kids or vulnerable people.

Thank you. They're to go in a chicken roast tray bake thing tonight, for us and the 3dc.
They've been in the garage fridge so door not been opened every two minutes!

Don't want to poison everyone but don't want to drag kids to the shop either! A few things I've bought lately seem to have a short date, I need to be more careful in checking.

You'll be able to tell by the smell once you start cooking them if they've gone off.

Inforthelonghaul · 02/06/2020 09:55

I would definitely they’ll smell off if they are. I’m currently using up double cream with a use by of 28/5 and Parmesan flakes that have been open for at least 3 months and said use in 3 days.
