Good audible books?

Need to choose twl audible books. Never done it before. What books have worked for you in audible format? I need a narrator that isn’t too annoying. The sort of authors I am enjoying at the moment are Lianne Moriarty, Dawn O’porter, David Nichols etc so fairly light, not super gritty stuff but not total fluff.

I'm not really much help, but do listen to the samples first to make sure you get on with the narrator. For example, I love the Terry Pratchett books narrated by Nigel Planer and Stephen Briggs, but can't bear the ones narrated by Celia Imrie.

I also love Bill Bryson books, but can only bear the ones he narrates himself. The man they have doing the others has (to me) a whiny nasal American accent.

So, yes. Listen to the samples first!

I've really enjoyed The Flatshare.
I read the book first and am quite fussy about narrators but I've found it really enjoyable to listen to.

All the Philip Pullman books are great on audible

I enjoy long saga type books - and they are generally better value for money with credits.

I really enjoyed the Ken Follet Kingsbridge series. I listen when going to sleep and find it easier to dip in and out of saga type books rather than something more fast paced.

I also find they read too fast for my sleepy mind so get Alexa to slow down, which for me makes them more listenable

Thanks I have read most of Ken Foller books but only the first two of the Kingsbridge series so might try that. I thought a saga might be a bit much for a first timer but take your point of it being better value.

I've recently listened to my first ever audiobook. It may not be your cup of tea OP but I went to the Michelle Obama autobiography and I would definitely recommend it.

It's an interesting book and as she's the one reading it, the tone is just right - you can hear where she smiles etc in it and at one point she sings a line of a song.

Saw that PP recommended The Flatshare. It's on BBC sounds for free at the moment!

I have listened to audible books for years and love them! I really enjoyed all the Ruth Ware books and recently Dreda Say Mitchell x

Not fiction, but Michelle Obama reading her autobiography Becoming is brilliant, I could listen to her talk all day.

Just listened to missing you by Kate Eberlen and really enjoyed it- very easy listening.
Now listening to Only You by the same author but so for not enjoying it much.
