Feeling down and teary after weeks of lockdown

I spent two months home alone, not working, not seeing anyone I know until last week. I'm feeling very flat, teary, no motivation, and can't seem to shake it. Please tell me it's normal to feel like this or that I'm not alone.

Yes it's normal. No you are not alone. It's hard, it's scary, it's lonely.

It's what being strong and brave and heroic means in practise.

I felt this for the first 4 weeks of lockdown. you are not alone in feeling this

Can you call someone and have a catch up?

ChewChewIsMySpiritAnimal · 29/05/2020 19:12

It's normal. Have you got anyone you can call for a meet up?

Ghostlyglow · 29/05/2020 19:19

It's normal. Lots of us are feeling like absolute shit. Flowers I actually have a hard time believing people who say they're OK right now.
We'll get through itSmile

💐 I have never felt my mental health was more precarious than it is right now, and before all this I would never have given it a second thought.

Whenever I am feeling particularly bad, I make myself get outside into the air, and walk and walk. Plus the odd glass of something alcoholic has snuck in. Previously I had a ‘never drink alone’ policy.

You are not alone OP.

Petals23 · 29/05/2020 20:30

@ghostlyglow I'm so glad you think the same. I've had people say to me how much they're enjoying all this, they plan something different every day... I just find it hard to believe and it was making me feel worse!

Hang in there @Petals23. Try to be kind to yourself. We will get through this and it will get better.

Bluewavescrashing · 29/05/2020 20:44

It's normal to feel like you do OP.

Some people are good at finding the bright side / silver lining of tough situations, some paint on a happy face to get through the day. It doesn't mean you're weaker than them.

This, too, shall pass. Flowers

Its absolutely normal. Humans aren't meant to live in social isolation.

PilatesPeach · 29/05/2020 20:50

I understand. I am alone and unable to work. I am feeling the same at the moment. Having my dog has kept me going. Hope you soon feel a bit brighter & same to everyone on here Flowers

HowWhenWhy · 29/05/2020 20:57

I have kept myself and everyone going throughout lockdown. Supported rest of family as we lost one of us to the virus.

Now we are hopefully seeing light at the end of the tunnel, I am falling apart and crying uncontrollably Sad

Only writing this to say you are not alone op Thanks

In the early stages of lockdown I felt quite weepy most mornings on waking. Now I'm quite happy with my routine and not overly looking forward to normality returning.
Didn't think I'd be saying that! 😲

Iflyaway · 29/05/2020 21:46

making me feel worse!

Don't compare your life to others OP. We are all going through this in our own way. Some people put on a brave face. That's life. Who knows what they feel in the dead of night, unable to sleep, worrying about the future.....

I have my days of feeling o.k. and days - and sleepless nights - of wondering where all this is going, both personal and on a society/economic/world-wide level, and the fall-out from it.

It's normal to feel like this. We've never been through it before. Be kind to yourself. And others.

attackedbycritters · 29/05/2020 22:00

Some people are probably just putting on their brave face , a sort of fake it and hope they make it
