Costs of a pool?

This lovely weather has made me realise how totally happy a pool would make me. I'm certain this is an impossible dream but can anyone tell me the costs involved? I'm talking about a properly built outdoor pool like you'd get in a hotel. Maybe 10 metres diameter. Smile

Just asked a builder for a ballpark quote: 100k.
We will make do with the sprinkler.

Proper pool would be ideal.

We have a 10ft above ground pool that is great for much, much less than 100k!

PIA to put up/fill & then disassemble after summer but on those scorching days in the summer it is bliss & so worth having.

100k for a pool my house cost that much to build!

I would love a proper pool as well. But the costs put me off.

I would love a proper pool but only if it was heated! Friends have one and say 30k to build....For now we have 15ft steel walled above ground. It looks better I think than the just plastic and stays up all year but even with solar heaters it's chilly and kids still wearing wetsuits so no chance I'm getting in.

I'm my last house we did it ours ourselves with some help. Not quite a concrete pool but much much cheaper.

We were on a natural slope so excavating wasn't too hard.

We decked right up to the pool from the house so it looked like an in ground one.

It was beautiful, affordable and is still going 20 years later.

We heated it with heat reversal pumps which are pennies to run. All
In all it was a lovely pool.

Cost of pool was around £4,000
Insulation was £500
Pool cover and roller £2,000
Cost of excavation was £5,000
Decking and railings £2-3,000
Heat reversal pumps x2 were £6,000
Pool room with outside was £4,000

For £25-26,000 we had an amazing pool.

It also didn't require planning permission as it was only partially in ground.

The pool was similar to this one but in the uk:

I just spent 30k getting a pool removed and the garden re landscaped.

Unless it's indoors then it devalues the house, costs a fortune to run (every year) and can only be used most years a few weeks a year!

The estate agent also said the pool put a lot of people off the house before we came along prepared to take it out.

If you really want one go ahead but be really sure it's not in part due to the lockdown! (Which I would understand totally but still advise against it!)

We lived in Oz and had the pool man come and clean it each month for $150. We were renting so any actual maintenance say, if it was broken was up to the landlords.
I’d say it’s very costly here in the Uk as it’s not as popular.
Definitely an indoor pool. You’d get more use.
We viewed a house with an outdoor pool, but were put off by it.
