What sort of compensation should I get?

I bought a rust coloured cotton jumpsuit recently from a mid range high street retailer (£40); on the second wash (first was on its own) it has left half the load COVERED in orange splotches Envy
I haven’t tried to rewash it all yet as I need to take photos of everything, but assuming the clothes are ruined, what should I get as compensation?
None of it is important or expensive, a pair of men’s ASOS trousers, a men’s H&M shirt, baby clothes from H&M and Sainsbury’s, primark T-shirt but to replace it all new would probably be £100+. Obviously it’s not worth £100 now though...
I’ll email the company but I’m guessing I shouldn’t just accept a £20 voucher...

I would definitely complain having seen the pics now. Anything bought has to be fit for purpose. I am really lax with splitting up washing (live alone and would struggle to get a full load if I did it all "properly") and I've never had anything like that happen.

Absolutely ask for compensation. Clothes shouldn't run like that. I'm the same as you OP, I have two washes - whites and everything else. This has never happened to me.

These days the colours in clothes are much more stable, and this sort of thing shouldn't happen.

What colour is the writing. Can you post a pic of the washing label. Some clothes I have always run so I wash them by hand

Dylon do an amazing colour reverse thing for exactly this. About £5. Would really recommend it!

No one washes alone repeatedly ! I would send them all the photos and see what you get. I would expect a store voucher as good will and you’re not being grabby to expect that!

I've got some items of clothing (knickers mainly) that are a questionable colour because ive been a bit slapdash separating wash loads, but I would definitely complain about what's happened with your wash. That's bad.

I’m gonna go against the grain and say that is awful!! I always wash “with similar colours” as similar brightness / colour saturation. I’d have washed something rust coloured with blues, greens, reds etc.

I don’t think the jumpsuit is exactly fit for purpose if it runs colour after the first wash tbh

But some Dr Beckman or dylon colour run remover. It will all come off
