Fold up bikes.

I bought a fold up bike, with full size wheels for lock down. It's great but far to heavy and bulky to take to places in the car. Thinking of getting one with smaller wheels. What are they like to ride? I only go on fairly flat paths and tracks.

Moulton and the like? They're only vaguely capable of 'off road' use, the small wheels make for a very rough ride on anything other than paved surfaces or smooth tracks. No use at all in ruts or muddy paths, they'll spit you off.

They're generally not that much lighter either at a similar price point, be sure to check the weight difference before buying.

What are you riding at the moment?

Getting a decent (ie £100+) over-the-boot bike rack might be the better plan, although I'm not sure how a foldup can be hard to fit in a car - I can get two non-foldups in the boot of my Focus by removing the wheels, and it's not a capacious car.

I bought one from decathlon last year and I absolutely love it!
I had a Dorothy bike before and it was just too big for me. The wheels are much smaller on my folding bike and I feel much more confident on it.
It’s absolutely fine on slightly bumpy paths and was a fraction of the price of well known brands.
Highly recommended!

I've got an Ecosmo shopper bike. I can get in the car with the back seat folded down. It's just heaven and difficult to lift as it has no clips to hold it together when folded.
