Mine is a white candle wick bedspread that was my mum’s. She had it since before I was born. She died nine years ago and now I have it. I absolutely love it and could never part with it. What’s your most treasured possession?

My first "bonsai" tree. It was a seedling about 25 years ago. Over the years others have come and some have gone, (mainly oak trees that I can't bear to kill if they come up with the roots) but this one is the original and best.

A knitted Piglet (as in Winnie the Pooh's friend) I bought at a school fair when I was about 9. He still comes to bed with me every night and I'm not far off 60.

And a full set of the Arthur Ransome Swallows and Amazons children's books that belonged to my Mum. Hence my username Smile

Oh I forgot about my dad's paintings. I have three: one from the 1960s, one from the 1980s and one he did for me in the 2000s which is the last one he painted. Can't believe I forgot them.

A diary written for me as a child by my nana who died when I was 10. She wrote in it every time I came to visit about what we did together, things I said etc.

evilharpy · 29/05/2020 11:49

@minai that is absolutely precious.

My late Mum's 23 Carat gold wedding ring
Dated 1923, her Mum's before her

hotstepper4 · 29/05/2020 12:02

@TheVanguardSix thank you, yes it's very precious, as was she Smile

pickleface · 29/05/2020 12:47

My grans wedding ring. It came to me when she died 5 years ago. She was such a huge part of my upbringing and I feel like she is in some way with me when I wear it every day.

I even changed all my usual white gold colour scheme to yellow gold to match it.

When my Dad retired, he took up the hobby of restoring antique musical boxes. He'd buy a ratty old box with half the bits missing, and over a year or so he'd painstakingly make new parts from old drawings . They were a labour of love. By the time he'd fnished, they'd be in perfect working order, and he'd french polish the outside of the box until it shone like silk. When he died , Mum gave us all a box each. Mine sits in pride of place in the sitting room, and occasionally I open it and wind it up . The music tinkles through the room and it's as if Dad is there with me. I'm so lucky to have it.

A Mexican peso: My father saved his last Mexican peso (it was in a bill then) before he immigrated to the USA back in 1960.

A trophy: My father was a professional musician for 60 years and in 1992 he won his first of many awards for "Best Group" in a city-wide reader's poll.

A diploma: My mother's high school diploma from 1954. Many Hispanic people in the US didn't get educations past a certain year at school. She managed to finish all 12 years and with distinction.

A little silver statue I bought dad the Christmas before he died (when he was very ill). It sits in the kitchen now.

CockCarousel · 29/05/2020 17:34

Mine is a tiny (6" high) silver tree trunk with little gilt gnomes swarming all over it. You can lift the trunk off and there's a little family of mice in their tiny kitchen, all in silver. Given to me by late DH, and when he gave it to me he said "I've got you the best present ever". He was right, it's the best gift I've ever had.

SunbathingDragon · 29/05/2020 17:36

My memory box of my dead daughter.

cafenoirbiscuit · 29/05/2020 22:29

My gorgeous uncle gave me 2 statues of dogs he had from my beloved grandpa for one of my milestone birthdays. They look like grandpas old dogs, and the 2 dogs I have now. Reminds me of 2 of the most amazing men I’ve been related to Every time I look at them.

ViciousJackdaw · 29/05/2020 22:57

A letter that Bill Shankly wrote to my grandad and a brass Cornish pixie keyring that belonged to my Dad.
