How to get rid of sick smell

So my 18month old DC has recently discovered that if he sticks his finger in his mouth far enough he can make himself regurgitate :(
How do I get rid of the smell of vomit - it's mostly just water and milk he's brought back up but I cannot get rid of the smell from the sofa cushion.

I've tried washing the cushion cover, dabbing it with a mixture of vinegar and water and also spraying it with a pet odour neutraliser - all of this has helped but I still get a waft of smell now and then!
Any other ideas?

Baking powered sprinkled liberally and left over night before being hoovered up.

Ah ok thanks - I did read that somewhere but didn't try it - will give it a go!

I would sponge or squirt some water on before you sprinkle the bicarb. And be generous with the bicarb.

do you have outside space?
is it the seat cushion?

wash the cover again and slso the cushion if possible. if it's a seat cushion then scrub the cushion with water & bio washing powder. take it outside to dry, ideally in the sun.

Try making a paste using equal parts baking soda and shaving foam and scrubbing this into the fabric. Baking soda absorbs smells and the gritty particles "exfoliate" everything out of the fabric. The shaving foam is basically soap which enhances the cleaning effect. The trick is to get rid of any leftover particles as even a tiny bit of dried vomit can still smell for ages.

DD (17months) has a ridiculous gag reflex and has been sick over almost every part of the living room. I find the smell of vomit does linger for a week or two but should eventually disappear.

I do have outside space and yes it's the seat cushion.

Will try these tips - thanks!

Feel like my house furnishings/decor wasn't made to last all of us living in it 24/7 for months on end. The sofas have seen more wear in the past 3 months than the 3 yrs we've had them.
