uncomfortablydumb53 · 28/05/2020 13:41

I'm 55 and after some bleeding I was found to have a large Polyp
I've been referred under 2 week wait, which I expected, due to small cancer risk
Can anyone who's had treatment/removal be kind enough to enlighten me what is involved Please?

The gynae twisted it off and put silver nitrate on it. Didn’t feel a thing.

No anaesthetic needed and no post op bleeding.

I had two which were found when I had a hysteroscopy for post meno bleeding and slight pain. The examination and removal were done at the same time in the same procedure. I wasn’t offered any anaesthetic or pain relief and it did feel very crampy and uncomfortable at times but not unbearable by any means. And I have an extremely low pain threshold. Back to normal by next day.

As pp said, was a minor procedure and no anastesia. Just puts hand in, twists it off and then that’s done

I had one ‘burnt’ off. I’m not sure how it was done as it was a few years ago. It was fine by a gynae consultant at the hospital. In and out in 5 mins. Slightly odd feeling. Bit of spotting but no pain.

I had one in December last year. Slight twist, felt bit of a sting, nothing big and felt bit sore for a few hours. That's it.

Mine was benign

I had one in the same circumstances as you. Then I was referred for a hysteroscopy which led to a further investigation under GA. Of the three the coloscopy was by far the easiest. She removed the polyp and my friend and I went straight out to coffee afterwards.

Thank you all for your replies. It's reassuring to hear from those who've had it done
