How are you finding working from home?

I’m just interesting in how this is going for others who are not used to working from home regularly.

I have had phases of enjoying it, lacking motivation, missing being in the office... overall I do miss the social aspect of going into work but it’s nice to be able to get up later and be done at 5:30 (without adding on an hour for travel), to be able to do some exercise in the middle of the day, and make a proper lunch at home.

I know I’m lucky to be able to work from home.

Lucky to still be working from home and not complaining, but definitely working longer hours and harder than when in office.

I'm finding it hard to stop in the evening at a sensible time (when work is never ending) whereas in the office there are social cues like other people leaving and office filling empty / saying goodbye that remind you to leave, finishing 7pm or later isn't unusual.

Also having less breaks, Teams meetings are back-to-back (plus more likely to have people having 2nd or 3rd conversations over IM at the same time!) and because there is no walking between meeting rooms or no conversations in the kitchen when I get a cup of tea then there is no mental downtime during the day.

I want to go back to an office for a normal pace Sad I'm definitely not in the group of people that have "more time", even though my previous commute was 2.5hrs a day.

This is really interesting - I agree with so many comments here.

I love the fact I can put a load of laundry on, and I general have more flexibility around my day.

However, I am finding it more difficult to motivate myself to get stuff done (unless I have a deadline) and it feels a bit monotoneous.

Would it be helpful for anyone if I did an AMA on it?

Yy.

I'm hating wfh with DH and kids. We are both stressed woth excess work. It's horrible.

I used to wfh 1-2 days per week, just me. It was lovely.

For breaks I try to go downstairs and sit in the living room (ie a different room) and our outside if it’s nice or go for a walk / exercise but I haven’t been very good with the exercise this week.

Being able to put a load of washing on is really helpful!

I had a couple of weeks where I wasn’t as busy and I got a bit bored and lacked motivation. I wasn’t as productive. I’ve been v busy again in the past few weeks though and think I’ve adapt well to wfh overall.

DH struggles to motivate himself and will go days without doing much. He wants to go back to the office as he finds it hard to WFH.

We do seem to have a lot of meetings over Zoom and I’m not sure what I think about that. I still find it weird seeing into all of my colleagues’ homes.
