I have a zoom interview at 3 and I’m so nervous

I cannot get any of the preparatory info to stick in my head! And this is the first job I’ve really really wanted in ages.

I have made notes but is it acceptable to refer to them?

Sorry I don't know but good luck!

Purplequalitystreet · 26/05/2020 14:11

Stick a few key points on the side of the screen, so it's not obvious you're reading them. Just make sure they don't fall off! Good luck!

LittenKitten · 26/05/2020 14:13

I think it’s fine to use notes! Shows you’ve done some research and put some thought into it. Good luck!

Make bullet point on a sheet of paper and put them on the wall behind the screen ,so you can take a quick look if neccessary. (I did this myself last week and just knowing the notes were there helped me)
Good luck!

Norma27 · 26/05/2020 14:15

Good luck! Try to be yourself, which is easier said than done.

EmeliaLily · 26/05/2020 14:16

Just make sure you have a clear uncluttered background, do a mic and soundcheck with a friend first, look presentable, and you're half way there! You'll be absolutely fine

grumpyorange · 26/05/2020 14:17

Stick bullet point notes just beside your camera. That way you can look at them but still appear to be looking at the camera.

Thank you so much - off to find some post its :)

I feel your pain, I had a Skype interview a few weeks ago which was my least preferred method of doing the interview. I felt physically sick afterwards!

I did manage to get the job though, so I must have done something right. Good luck!

caperplips · 26/05/2020 14:26

Best of luck OP - I think having notes to the side where you can see them - bullet points only! Will be a comfort and a help.

Also make sure you can close the door to the room so no distracting household nosies - kids / animals / husbands etc!

Good luck!!!

DrDavidBanner · 26/05/2020 14:30

Yeah what corlan and grumpy orange said. Sit still and don't fidget, I'm a terrible fidget!

Good luck! Flowers

grumpyorange · 26/05/2020 17:03

How's it go OP?

Preoleai · 26/05/2020 23:42

Thank you all for being so kind and supportive, and congratulations c3pu on getting the job!

I ran with the post it note tip - very good idea. BUT - they didn’t ask me anything at all related to the prep I’d done! I don’t think it went well but l, if nothing else, I at least now have experience of a zoom interview.

Flowers for you all :)

Oh well, you never know and like you say its all experience, good luck with the job search.

It's easy to think of interviews as exams, where 'they' know the answers are are trying to find out if you know them too.

If instead you think about it as an opportunity for you to find out about them as well as them to find out about you, it feels more balanced.

If you are each a good good for the other, bingo probably a job offer. If not, lucky escape.

Good luck.

Preoleai · 27/05/2020 13:11

Thank you both. I’ll update on the result but really not hopeful. If I get another interview ever then I’m definitely going to use some of the advice on here.

Well it was worth coming to you folks for the advice - I got the job! Really didn’t think I would and I’m so pleased. Thank you Flowers
