If you’re overweight, how much difference do you think giving up wheat would make?

I swear I’m made of dough. Without bread, rolls, cakes and other doughy goods, I think I’d lose a shitload of weight.
I’ve got to take steps to do this.

I’m wheat intolerant. I think I did lose weight when I first cut it out but it’s easy to eat substitutes and gain weight. Years of yo-yo dieting for me. Certainly I am less bloated, I had to do a gluten challenge (before and after photo attached!). I’ve stopped dieting as such and am now doing Rebelfit, changing my approach and attitude to food and exercise. It’s not a sudden weight loss approach but I feel a lot better.

Defo try the food combining. But you can’t have chicken curry and rice as that’s meat and carbs. You could have chicken curry and some kind of veg instead of rice.

And another day you can have veggie curry with rice.

It can be done. You can’t have a cheese sarnie as that’s protein and carbs but you can have a cheese baked spud or a sandwich that’s not got a protein filling and has a veggie one instead, like a tomato sandwich or whatever.

Quiche is out as eggs are protein and the pastry is carbs but omelette is in providing not served with carbs like chips.

Honestly it works. Try it for a fortnight. The weight fell off me. You just find alternatives to your favourites. A roast with yorkies, roasties and two veg is out though! The meat and veg is fine. Or the veg, yorkies and roasties. But Sunday lunch ain’t a happenin!

For the last two weeks, I'm on the third week now, I have been calorie counting on my fit bit so that I have at least a 1000 calorie deficit.

I've lost 3lb the last two weeks. I've not cut anything out and nothing is off limits providing I have maintained a 1000 calorie deficit.

I've naturally avoided bread and carbs as they calorie count is too high for me as in there are things gas I'd rather have more off like salmon or fat free yoghurt.

It's working for me.

Cut out everything with wheat including pasta. By doing this you will have cut out many unhealthy things ie cakes and biscuits anyway. Make a huge huge difference

@Elieza but why does not eating two food group together work? What’s the thinking behind that? Also, how completely incomparable with day to day living in the longer term!?

I've been off gluten for a year. Lost very little weight but lost 2 dress sizes due to bloating.

Still overweight!
Lower carbs and more veg is the only thing that works for me.

Time2: I don’t know how it works and I didn’t care at the time as it seemed to work for me so that was great!

I think it’s something to do with how your digestive system breaks foods down. I’m sure there will be articles out there that explain it! I just think it’s worth a go.

It’s not difficult, just needs a bit of thought, you tend to eat less crap, as crap seems to have protein and carbs combined, eg cream cakes, pizza, creamy curries, chippies.
Perhaps that’s the key, the thought and the healthier combinations! Worth a try before cutting whole food groups out of your diet. If it doesn’t work then cut out the wheat.
