Questions about an increase in water pressure

I had a note in the letterbox last week informing me that the water supplier would be increasing water pressure by 1 bar tomorrow. Water to be off (at any time) between 08:00 and 16:00, so ensure you have enough for your needs during that time.
There was also advice on making sure all taps were turned off and what to expect when they had finished, such as running water for 10 minutes etc. until it feels cool and is clear.

I will ring to clarify later on this morning, but

  1. Do I switch off the boiler completely?
  2. Do I also need to turn off the main stop cock?
  3. What happens if my ancient pipework doesn't like the extra pressure?

Would I be very unreasonable to go out for the entire day? I am not in the UK and things are "more or less" normal here provided you wear a mask and keep your distance.

No you don5 need to turn off the main stop cock. They are just telling you there will be no water. (The information about increasing pressure is to make you happy they are doing the work so you don't complain) Just fill the kettle and a few saucepans for water during the day. Fill a couple of buckets of water and leave in the bathroom to flush the loo. Stay home or if allowed you can go out.
