Amniotic fluid, waters breaking early??

I woke up this morning needing the toilet and realised my knickers were wet, and a small bit of white discharge. There was also a wet patch on my bed. Smelt my knickers and pretty sure smells of urine. Currently lying in bed with a panty liner on and haven’t had any more leakage in bed as of yet. I’m 29+5 weeks pregnant. Could I have wet myself in my sleep without knowing?? Have been for 2 normal wees since. Have practiced pelvic floors and no leakage has come out. Have had some thick, yellowish discharge.

Get checked out to be on the safe side.

Speak to your midwife/doctor. If they're at all concerned, a scan will pick up how much amniotic fluid there is. Don't leave it, at my 37 week scan it showed my amniotic fluid was low, I was rescanned six days later and it had all gone. Somehow I'd lost it and had absolutely no idea how.

Ring maternity triage. Good luck.

I’ve had no more leakage at all, should I still be worried?

That was the sign for all three of my children that I was going into labour

Dowser · 26/05/2020 12:41

In the olden days when I had my children it was called ‘ a show ‘
God knows what it’s called now but I’d get in touch just in case you’re going into labour
Mine were full term, two weeks early and one month early in that order

iamtheoneandonlyyy · 26/05/2020 12:42

By all means get checked but if it smells like urine...it probably is. Grin pregnancy is so glam.
However safety first, it's better to be sure

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 26/05/2020 12:42

@ifonly4 is describing a condition called oligohydramnios it's where the body doesn't produce or replenish the amniotic fluid - it's not the same as the amniotic sac breaking and losing fluid that way. If, however you think you may have lost some fluid and you're not sure whether it was amniotic fluid or not you should contact triage or your emergency contact to be safe - take advice don't sit and worry!

ShipshapeShore · 26/05/2020 12:47

I had what felt like leakage. I called and they said to wear a pad and lie on my left side for an hour - if its amniotic fluid leaking it will be obvious when you stand up. It was a hot day when this happened to me and they said they'd had so many similar calls as apparently when it's warm you can get a LOT of discharge! That's what it was for me but best to seek proper advice.

anxiousmum101 · 26/05/2020 13:51

Rang the emergency triage and they suspect I’ve wet myself, and told me to just keep them updated and wear a pad all day as I’ve had no pain or anymore leakage. Thanks everyone.
