What do your 5 year olds eat

Routine is definitely out the window to an extent with lockdown.

Dd is constantly asking for snacks even though we are keeping her occupied so im unsure if boredom is a factor

What does a typical day of eating look like for your child?

Breakfast about 7.30am - porridge with sultanas/Weetabix/Krispies, and an apple

Snack about 10am - banana, if he’s really hungry he can have a slice of toast (he likes wholemeal toast)

Lunch about 12pm - sandwich of some kind (he loves egg, tuna, ham or cheese) half a bag of Pom Bears or similar split with his sister, a Yeo Valley yoghurt, a pear

Snack at about 3pm - another apple usually, he would eat them all day if he was allowed

Tea at about 5pm - omelette with beans, or fish fingers-and-chips or similar, or pasta of some kind, or jacket potato, or salmon and potatoes. Berries for pudding.

He doesn’t like vegetables AT ALL but he’s excellent with fruit and likes trying new things. He only drinks water, and never liked cow’s milk as a drink after I stopped bf him (apart from on cereal). He can be a bit naggy for food though - he’ll wander in about 50 times while I’m making his lunch and claim to be starving, or gets a bit huffy if he doesn’t get what he considers a big enough portion Hmm He’s really missing school dinners bless him.

Mine are 6 and 4 and ask me for food all.the.time.
Breakfast is usually weetabix (x2) followed by a bowl of grapes and Greek yoghurt. Mid morning snack of fruit or crackers or a cake if we’ve been baking. Lunch is then something like sandwiches/soup and toast/scrambled egg on toast/omelette/pasta. Afternoon snack of biscuits or crisps or cereal bar. Dinner the usual type stuff... curry/spag bol/risotto/meat or fish with veg etc. Often ask for another snack before bed!

Either cereal, toast or porridge
Sliced fruit
A boiled egg

Pack of crisps

1/2 a grilled cheese sandwich and soup or salad

Sliced apple with peanut butter, or veggie sticks and houmous, or yoghurt and honey

Dinner... various. Grilled meat plus veggies and mash, pasta bake, fish fingers, etc.

I think mine eats very little but she likes fruit and veg and drinks lots of whole milk (unlike DD1) so I don't worry.

B - typically 2 tablespoons of yoghurt and honey. 1 piece of whole fruit (usually apple, banana or satsuma)

S - fruit

L - likes a picky plate, cheese, grapes, loads of cucumber and tomatoes and 1 oatcake with marmite (she will lick the marmite and leave the oatcake), fruit

S - treat, kinder bar or her favourite is grapes with a big dollop of peanut butter to dip them in. Sometimes crisps

D - family meal, depends what it is. Tonight was quarter a kids size bowl of homemade chicken broth. Last night was about 2 bites of chicken pie. Ate all the broccoli and 1 bite of potato.

S - hot chocolate with marshmallows or a biscuit and milk before bed

Today
Breakfast - Slice of toast with chocolate spread
Lunch - wrap, crisps, cucumber
Snack - Apple
Dinner - tonight was a snack pizza with sweet potato fries with ice lolly for pudding
Supper - slice of bread & chocolate biscuit

Not the healthiest today!!
