I love bognor butlins we stay in the hotel, I love the entertainment, price covers everything.
Dh not a fan he wants somewhere less hectic near a nice beach. (He’s also a snob).
He loves centreparc holidays but whilst the setting was lovely- i thought it was super boring no entertainment, the activities prices were £££.
Is there something that would suit us both nice setting, entertainment, nice beach the only drawback I hate caravans. A lodge or hotel is preferred.
Is this basically impossible? Looking to book for summer next year :)

Kelling Heath in Norfolk
Beautiful setting, stuff to do but not Butlins levels of entertainment. Easy reach of gorgeous beaches.

Have a look at potters resort in Norfolk

Lots of activities for all ages included in the price a bit like an upmarket butlins.

We love it there.

Try looking at TLH a group of 4 hotels on a complex in Torquay

Marsalimay · 25/05/2020 09:42

I’m a fan of Center Parcs. What do you mean by entertainment?

Littleyellowfootball · 25/05/2020 09:50

Shows in the evenings, singers, competitions.
There was a quiz one evening at centre Parcs but was too late for the children.

Yep try potters you get shows and quizzes and games.
Segways, assault course, mini golf, go carts, climbing wall, curling and loads more all included in the price.
It's full board so you get 4 meals a day and the food is lovely.
They have a hotel or brick built bungalows you can stay in.
It's more expensive but everything included in the price.

Had a great holiday a few years back at a caravan park on the Isle of Wight. Five minute walk to the beach, playground and swimming pool in site. Didn't have the sport type activities that Centreparcs do but there were a few day time things and a kids disco every evening plus adult activities afterwards. Can't remember the name of the resort but there are several and most are near beaches.

Your DH may not like it if he's a snob though!

Out of the ones you’ve listed, Haven is definitely our top choice. Parkdean, not a patch on them in terms of amenities, entertainment or accommodation. The Haven lodges are lovely although pricey but worth it. The accommodation at Parkdean has always been a lot more ‘aged’ compared to Haven. Parkdean is great if you just want accommodation as a base, rather than to spend all day on-site.

But Parkdean is also cheap and cheerful just not as cheerful as Haven IMO!!

dontknowwasmadetoknow · 25/05/2020 10:15

Just remembered they also have dance classes, Zumba classes, bowls, all sorts of arts and crafts for the kids like brackets making, jar painting etc, clay pidgeo shooting so many activities is hard to remember them all, and all included in the price.
We go once a year as a whole family so about 15 of us. From 2 to 79 years old and everyone has a fantastic time.
The staff go out of their way to make sure you have a great holiday and really take the time to get to know you.
We should have been going tomorrow for the half term break but obviously that's cancelled ☹️Have a look on trip adviser but ignore the first few reviews as that just people moaning about wanting a refund because of coronavirus

Littleyellowfootball · 25/05/2020 10:30

Looked at potters it looks lovely and get dh’s Approval but looks like you can only do weekend stays or mon to fri is that right?
Is evening entertainment there suitable for children - is it on early enough?

Haven Chalets at Perran Sands. It’s a hike down the cliff path to the beach, but it’s worth it

Notlostjustexploring · 25/05/2020 10:34

Bluestone in Wales? Close to beaches, good pool, and there is some evening entertainment?

Qgardens · 25/05/2020 10:40

Duinrell in Holland. Fantastic beach, fantastic theme park, fantastic swimming complex and walking distance to a small town. Close to Delft and Amsterdam

Get the stena line overnight ferry to the Hook of Holland then a short drive. You can stay in duinglows (their own lodges) or caravans through the likes of Eurocamp.

We usually do a 5 night school holiday break usually may half term as I think in term time it's more geared toward elderly people. Five nights is enough as we are usually so tied from all the activities we need to rest when we get home.

In the evening they have a large theatre and first of all they have the obligatory bingo on in there. While the bingo is on they have activities going on for children depending on their age. Older children have football or cricket and some sort of activity in the other sports hall like go-carts or mini motorbikes and also a craft activity going on and for the younger ones in a different area they have a mini disco with party games etc.
After bingo they have the main show which is usually lots of singing and dancing which my children quite enjoyed but it would depend on the children. They have something on in the main theatre till about 11:30 and then they serve a midnight meal ( we've never made it to this ) after they have a singer or karaoke on.

Littleyellowfootball · 25/05/2020 11:12

Thank you potters is looking good for a short break.
Haven potentially for 7 night summer holiday then if the chalets are ok? Anymore experiences of Havan at all?

Littleyellowfootball · 25/05/2020 11:12

Haven!
Sorry

PuppyMonkey · 25/05/2020 11:16

I did seven days at Potters one time - you can do it if that’s what you’d like, but you get some repeats of the entertainment so it gets a bit boring.

But four nights is fab. And it’s well worth the high price for all the food and entertainment - the shows are like West End style musicals, amazing.

belfasteast · 25/05/2020 11:20

Are all of the above open for business this summer?

x2boys · 25/05/2020 11:21

Have had a,few Haven ,holidays but always stayed in the Caravans ,they always entertainment at night and during the day ,it does depend on the site though regarding facilities some are better than others ,it just depends what you want really ,we went to Oakland site a couple of years ago ,which we found very small and boring ,but it does offer a lot of water based activities which im sure some people would love .

x2boys · 25/05/2020 11:22

Lakeland*

Littleyellowfootball · 25/05/2020 11:25

Not sure Belfast? I’m looking to book for summer 2021

OP posts:
EggysMom · 25/05/2020 11:27

I don't think Haven are guaranteeing any facilities or entertainment this summer - they've started advertising as 'Haven Hideaways' where all you get is the accommodation and the shop/laundrette.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 25/05/2020 11:29

@MegBusset we went to Kelling heath at least once a year all through my childhood I have so many great memories of the park and all the surrounding areas.

Cream teas in Holt
Crab fishing at Blakney
Beach in sheringham and Hunstanton

StealthPolarBear · 25/05/2020 11:30

We've loved foreat holidays
