Like a fairy elephant

This phrase, often used by my DM about me in childhood, came to mind for some reason.

I’ve not heard it for years - thank god - but I wondered if others have heard it or it’s been used recently?

My dance teacher used to say this!

My family said herd of elephants

My mum used to warn me on my way out for the night, don't come in here like a fairy elephant up the stairs at 3am! She wasn't being unkind, just advising me not to be stompy. My dad used to get the warning too Grin

Isn't this in the context? DF used to say to me and DB 'stop clomping around up there like a herd of fairy elephants' or when we'd dash down the stairs 'he'd say Christ I thought that was a fairy elephant coming down the stairs not you'. We were both slim children, I always took it to mean heavy footed, jumping around etc as we were usually making a racket when he said it.

yep, my nan used to say this. along with ‘not on your nelly’ which was for something that was vehemently opposed

I say "you're like a bloody fairy elephant" all the time to DD - she's 4ft10 & weighs about 6 stone but by god she's got the heavy footedness (not a word) of a 7ft, 30st sumo wrestler

Thank fuck we no longer have stairs
