Why isn't my new fridge cold enough?

I got it last week because my old one broke, which was bad enough. This new one: the freezer is fine well maybe even too cold because it looks like it snowed in there! But the fridge, particularly at the top seems barely above room temperature. Has anyone any experience of this and knows what to do? I've tried contacting ao, who I got it from and the manufacturer but obviously it's Bank Holiday weekend. 🙄

Nobody has disbelieved the OP. What on earth are you on about?

YetAnotherSpartacus · 24/05/2020 13:43

Adults can generally tell if a fridge is cold or not. I believe you OP

Which is not really the point [eyeroll]. If the OP wants the company to do something about it she will need a thermometer and a recording of temperatures. That was what I needed. I also had to listen to twaddle about how temperatures 'cycle' and I needed to remember that fridges went through ranges. I needed, in the end, to provide evidence that mine was usually unreasonably warm. 'My fucking milk os going off' did not cut it.

This isn’t a great sign either as you shouldn’t have actual ice/frost in your freezer.

You're like my DP @ThornyR0se Grin. I was wondering aloud about getting a thermometer and gathering a bit of evidence and he's 'you don't need a thermometer to tell it's not cold enough!' He thinks everything gets sorted by shouting Grin. Bet I can't get him to ring them, thoughHmm

How long after delivery did you switch it on? Was it left to stand for several hours to settle?

Ghostlyglow · 24/05/2020 13:54

The delivery guys told me 2 hours @FrogFairy

Yeah, that was what happened to me. The freezer was too frosty and the fridge too warm.

Pomegranatemolasses · 24/05/2020 13:57

This happened me years ago, and a repairman had to come and repressurise the fridge (don't know much about fridge mechanics). Thai did the trick.

Brahumbug · 24/05/2020 21:59

A fridge should be 4 degrees c or less, a thermometer is therefore useful to check it.

Ghostlyglow · 26/05/2020 08:31

What happened in the end @YetAnotherSpartacus how was it resolved?

Sorry just seen, you got a replacement. How long did it all take, though?

It took ages and many phonecalls. It wasn't a Hisence though and it was mainly the dealer I bought it from who was stalling.

Thanks for replyingSmile. Engineer now booked for next week so 🤞🤞

Don't let them fob you off. I would keep records of temperatures taken at different times during the day for a few days. I got told that fridges 'cycled' through temperature setting and I just kept opening it when it was in a warm phase. Meanwhile, food was going off....
