Raised sore mole, pic attached

Hi,

Iv had a mole on my hip for as long as I can remember.

It’s became really sore/itchy the last few weeks but I haven’t itched it because it’s raised.

What should I do? Leave it or do I need some cream?

Sorry for the awful picture!

I’d phone gp to ha e it checked and put a plaster over it. I bet it’s where your pants rub it. Stopping it being rubbed will probably help settle it down

Haggisfish · 23/05/2020 22:44

And definitely get it checked.

Mummypig2020 · 23/05/2020 22:51

Thank you, I have a c section tummy that hangs abit and covers it up, which is why Iv never took much notice of it 🙈

I have moles like that which sometimes become irritated and it’s usually due to clothes rubbing.

DukeOfEarlGrey · 23/05/2020 22:55

Definitely get it checked OP. It’s probably fine and looks irritated (agree with op could be clothing rubbing) but itching is one of the symptoms of an unhealthy mole so you should get your GP to look too.

FrownPrincess · 23/05/2020 23:00

I had an itchy, raised mole and saw a doctor to have it checked. He said it was irritated by my bra rubbing on it, and said it would be better to have it removed. He also took off another one which was at waistband-level.
Yours is perhaps being rubbed by your pants/ jeans.

1FootInTheRave · 24/05/2020 00:32

It is quite irregular in shape.

Thats needs to be seen imo.

Mummypig2020 · 24/05/2020 07:19

How do I see a doctor atm?

It’s quite sore this morning.

Get it checked op. An irregular shaped mole which is changing needs to be checked urgently.

dottycat123 · 24/05/2020 07:49

I had one very similar, didn't itch but occasionally became wet. The GP thought it was a raised dark wart but referred me to the dermatology service where the Consultant immediately said it was almost certainly a basal cell carcinoma ( the much less dangerous skin cancer). It was removed a few weeks later and the biopsy confirmed bcc. I was told never to get sunburnt and that it was likely I would have more moles turn cancerous. I am very pale skinned and as a child of the 1970s probably burnt more than children today. My point is the GP was convinced it was fine so you may need to push for dermatology opinion.

Thepilotlightsgoneout · 24/05/2020 07:52

Has it always been that shape or has it changed?

tinytemper66 · 24/05/2020 07:54

I had a problem with a mole a couple of weeks ago. I joined GP. I sent the pictures over email and she prescribed cream after a telephone consultation. So please get it sorted.

Mummypig2020 · 24/05/2020 08:08

Thanks all! It’s an area that’s probably never seen the sun 😂🙈

Any changes to moles including itching need to be checked out !
Go to the gp

tinytemper66 · 24/05/2020 11:42

Mummypig...mine too!

Chewbecca · 24/05/2020 11:45

Yes, Dr will want to see that and likely remove it. I have had it done a few times, all were fine but they need to check.

Mummypig2020 · 24/05/2020 13:26

Does it hurt to be removed?

OP posts:
Keitepeheakoe · 24/05/2020 13:31

No not really. There’s a bit of blood and they use a local obviously

Chewbecca · 24/05/2020 13:56

No, the local anaesthetic is v good.

JoeExoticsEyebrowRing · 24/05/2020 13:58

Definitely get that checked. Any change to any mole or mark needs checking, especially if it is bleeding etc. It could well be that it's rubbing on clothes but definitely see your GP.

LovingLola · 24/05/2020 14:00

I had an atypical new mole removed 10 days ago. Consultant rang me on Friday evening to say it was benign.
She removed it under local anaesthetic and put one stitch in.
Definitely get it checked asap

scochran · 24/05/2020 14:01

Call gp, I had a worry last week and have had dangerous mole results before. I was seen face to face by dermatologist within 10 days. They are still working, if you need it removed and biopsied it's a good time as reasonably quiet just now.
Doesn't hurt to remove, don't worry. 2 stitches max.

Mummypig2020 · 24/05/2020 17:13

Thank you all! Will ring tomorrow x

Mummypig2020 · 25/05/2020 20:28
