Father's day during lockdown

I know Father's Day is a few weeks away still, but I want to be prepared.
What are you getting for your partners/ dads?

I'm all out of inspiration. Budget up to £40, it's his first fathers day since DC3 arrived. Can't do twee photo frames, and he already has mugs from previous fathers days. He doesn't need any more key rings with his kids faces on Blush

He doesn't drink and isn't particularly foodie, but he does like nice chocolates.

Any ideas?!

TIA Smile

DH - 35 majorrrr Star Wars fan

So I got him and DS (8mo) matching Mandalorian baby grow and t-shirt

I'm also making fancy cupcakes, cheesecake and I'll buy DH some beers.

My dad, I don't really go all out for him. We've had a strained relationship over the years, I'll bake him some cupcakes too.

What films / TV shows does he like?

Or any sports, gaming, or hobbies?

CherieBabySpliffUp · 23/05/2020 19:51

Could the DC make him something? Does he always put his keys in the same spot when he gets in? So they could make a plate for keys and loose change etc.

I'm sorry I have no idea 😆 My dh is 40 next week, he is notoriously hard to buy for - we were going away for the weekend but obviously not now- racking my brains trying to think of birthday presents, then just round the corner is Fathers day 😂

Sparklingbrook · 23/05/2020 19:53

How far away does he live? Is he on his own?

Our local farm shop are doing afternoon tea to take away so I am getting him one to have with Mum.

RoomForMore · 23/05/2020 23:34

Some good suggestions so far, thanks! We already have a bowl for keys etc. In terms of sports, he is very sporty but already has expensive trainers, bike etc and he doesn't need any accessories for what he does. He is hard to buy for and sometimes I've done experience gifts for him, but it's a bit hard to plan ahead atm!

Sparklingbrook sorry I probably wasn't very clear, it's for my DH, so he does live very near Grin

I like your suggestion of an afternoon tea though!

Grin You were quite clear but I have had 🍷 and was thinking of my own DF.
I could ask my teen DS to get DH one and send him to pick it up. They are also doing takeaway ploughman’s lunches.

I remember the days when they were little and them choosing DH some really random stuff.

We'll just be trying to have a nice day together (with a photo Moonpig card) rather than presents.

Rolls and bacon for breakfast, a walk/bike ride and something different for dinner - possibly steak and chips for a change. DC and I will bake and decorate a cake. Depending on the weather/restrictions we might go for a walk and a picnic.

Not terribly exciting but in the current situation it genuinely is the thought that counts.

BoJo has decided to open the shops in time for Father's day so we can now go out and buy presents of the men of the house Hmm

startrek90 · 26/05/2020 18:07

We already had father's day were I live. We got dh a really nice box of chocolates that he liked and I cooked his favourite meal. He seemed to enjoy it. Maybe an idea? Rather than a big present maybe lots of small treats?

StumblingOffTheRocks · 26/05/2020 18:09

Dh is getting expensive coffee, a milk frother, a book
We’ll have a nice breakfast and dinner.

Juggling life with a new born is not easy (as much as I love to appear that I’m handling it well). I’ve forgotten about Father’s Day until yesterday when my sister brought it up. 🤢 Anyone like me?

DH is getting a meal instead of a present as that was the only good alternative so last minute. A meal for 4 of us with a Father’s Day card thrown in and a gift apparently with delivery for £25 per person.

It’s quite a good deal and saves my life literally but only available for Londoners unfortunately. latteriafathersday.paperform.co/

Again, it’s not super exciting but better than nothing isn’t it🤭

Fallulah · 19/06/2020 10:55

I’ve ordered in a hamper of food from the place he is from - normally he’d be there at the moment so I’m hoping this will raise a smile. His birthday is the same week so I have to think of double things!
