Coincidence?

Recently I discovered that someone with whom I used to share a very strong connection/attraction (I will call them A) owns a property in the same European small city as another person who was a very important part of my life for ten years as a friend (named B). It gets even stranger because this same place was also where one of my GF was stationed after the war to help get the place 'back up on its feet'. He did not see active service during the war but was called in for his expertise in the immediate aftermath.

I am not of the nationality of the country (and town) in question, nor have I ever studied or worked there. I don't even speak the language! I have only visited it three times in my life, visiting B. A is not a national nor do they work there either but B is (although I first met B thousands of miles away).

So it's just randomly coincidental right?

Yes, just a coincidence.

But I get the impression you're going to drive yourself crazy thinking it is fate or something magical, when it's not

Yes. Our brains are wired to look for patterns, there is what looks like a pattern, your brain thinks there must be something more to it. But it is random chance that you know 3 people with a connection to the same place.

What would it be other than coincidence? A 'sign' you're meant to be together or something? Don't start down that path OP, it gets weird Smile

I have slightly 'woo' leanings so was considering the fate aspect, true.

It is fascinating though that of all the places in all the world, one small, non-descript city not in the UK has that random 'cluster'!

I wonder if it's a bit like the six degrees of separation rule though. That there is somehow a pattern to interests, behaviour, profession, study etc... that means that some places will assume much greater significance than others even if there is no rhyme or reason to it ultimately.
