I have quite a few.so I'll say a couple here to start this off

  1. When my husband "cleans" hoovers and mops the floor but then doesn't put everything back once it's dry (chairs on tables, moving bins or baskets) and I've to go behind him putting everything back in its place
  1. Loud chewers and slurpers- makes me feel sick
  1. When people make my tea and it's like dirty dishwater
  1. When the kids and my husband put their dirty washing in the laundry basket and don't separate it into the correct baskets (colours, darks and whites)

I could go on and on all night, I'm aware these are pretty trivial things but they do really bug me, what's yours?

Dominic Cummings

Currently-the neighbours out in their garden at 7.30am - the 2 adults shouting to each other back and forth. The kids are loud too. No thought for anyone else trying to have a lie-in for a change. Totally pisses me off with their selfishness. Thanks for that rant... feel better now.. sigh!

Those pointless 'celebrity/entertainment news' updates they stick in about half way through films on Channel 5 and its offshoots. I've seldom heard of the celebrities, and even if I have, the so-called news is drivel of the most banal nature. Plus if you are looking at the onscreen TV guide on Freeview, it misleadingly appears that the film has just started when in fact it's half over.

Lynda07 · 25/05/2020 00:48

Curtain twitchers.

MrsAvocet · 25/05/2020 00:49

Nobody in family appears to be able to change a toilet roll,or when they do, they leave the cardboard bit on top of the cistern instead of putting it in the bin. Why?
It makes me nauseous to see ketchup (or any other kind of sauce come to that) shaken all over food. If you really must eat the hideous stuff then put a small blob on your plate and dip your food in it.
I also really hate people using the word "period" instead of "full stop". (Americans are exempt of course, but British people shouldn't do it.)
Why on earth do some people pick up their dog poo, put it in a bag and then hang the bag in a tree? It is gross.
Words that should finish "itis" being spelled "itus" eg mastitus, appendicitus. I don't know why but I find it particularly infuriating

Nat6999 · 25/05/2020 01:01

The people who live on the corner who have been outside since lunchtime & who are still out now yelling & bawling. I have to listen to the husband outside on his mobile nearly every night for 2-3 hours & when he isn't on the phone, he is verbally abusing his wife.

peakygal · 25/05/2020 01:02

When people complain about things others do on social media (delete them if it bothers you so much)

Noisy eaters or people who constantly sniff..Blow your nose ffs!

Kids roaring my name from somewhere else in the house 🙄

People who use the word ascared, its afraid or scared!

People who say the phrase "Ahh the little size of them"

Could be here all night 😂

blueshoes · 25/05/2020 01:13

I have lots because I have 2 teenagers and many aupairs:

Using wire wool like it is a sponge so food gets trapped inside and is difficult to remove and goes bad inside.
Using up the last of the [anything] and not putting it on the shopping list.
Closely related to eating up and leaving a tiny bit in the jar so you don't have to wash out the jar to recycle.
Eating my special chocolates secretly
Using kitchen towels to do cleaning
Yes, not washing water bottles. Once I washed out one of those stainless steel flasks with a narrow neck so you cannot see the inside. I pulled out all sorts of scum and algae
Eating in their bedrooms and leaving dirty dishes with caked food lying around.

Opening any sort of packet by tearing down the middle rather than cutting across the top. If the packet is not used up immediately, this causes the packet to increasingly tear down the middle with use and pretty soon the contents are spilling out into the cupboard/fridge etc.

HerRoyalNotness · 25/05/2020 01:13

My child who cannot be quiet at any time of the day. Not even for 5 mins, or even 1 minute. Constant chatter or noise making, it’s driving me nuts. He just keeps on being his cheery chatty self all the long day and night long.

Pinkarsedfly · 25/05/2020 01:24

When DH or one of the DSes has emptied the dishwasher there is often an unusual item that blows their mind to the extent they are physically incapable of asking where it goes and then putting the damn thing away.

Instead they have to leave the salad spinner/big serving dish/slightly odd-shaped Tupperware/kitchen gadget accessory abandoned on the worktop and leave the room, thus enabling it to spring to life like Woody in Toy Story and find its way home.

or maybe I fecking put it away again

Eckhart · 25/05/2020 01:33

@polkadotpjs I do that, if I've just walked 100y past the dog poo bin, and will be turning round and coming back the same way in 10 minutes. It's not doing anyone any harm, sitting to the side of the path for 10 minutes, and it's nicer to walk without carrying a bag of poo.

I have asked the dog to poo nearer the bin, but she's stubborn about some things...

Thecruxxofitis · 25/05/2020 01:35

People who don’t say thank you because ‘the other person had to do xyz’ e.g people who don’t say thank you at zebra crossings because drivers have to stop. It still never hurts to be polite urgh

disneydreaming · 25/05/2020 01:37

My 6 year olds socks. I find them everywhere, stuffed down the couch, under the kitchen table, in the garden. Everyday I happen upon random socks that he has abandoned somewhere.

He also is incapable of flushing toilets, shutting any drawers or cupboards he opens and he seems to think his clothes will magically find their own way into the laundry basket 🙃.

Sunnysidegold · 25/05/2020 08:27

Wee in the bathroom. I swear my two boys must stand and flail their penises around like they are miniature garden hoses.

If they'd lift the seat up that'd be great. But no, if I hurry into the bathroom for a pee, I quickly sit down in a puddle of piddle.

Or it's on the floor.

Or the toilet isn't flushed.

The people who ride motorbikes really fast and loudly past my house. It's a lovely rode to ride on but I really can't get over the massive roar sometimes.

People who don't change the loo roll.

Litterbugs.

I could go on but I want to feel chilled out today.

DinosApple · 25/05/2020 09:12

Mine are entirely related to the people I chose to live with, everything naturally being amplified by being together so much.

Briefly, living with DH is like living with the fucking energiser bunny. He does not stop. Constantly doing jobs, and not content to just be still, and have a cup of tea or play a game with the DC.

He regards me as somewhat lazy (true) but I prefer to have short bursts of getting shit done, interspersed with enjoying whatever the day brings.

There was an expression an old relative used to say when making yourself aquainted with your future spouse's faults:
Before you marry, keep both eyes open. After you marry, shut one eye!

RickOShay · 25/05/2020 09:23

Grin @Pinkarsedfly
That’s so true

woodhill · 25/05/2020 09:36

Leaving clutter on the kitchen side by back door, dh, ds

Ds going to bed late then leaving his plates on side rather than in dishwasher

Mucklowe · 25/05/2020 09:56

When I leave a glass of water on the side for more than 3 minutes and DH pours it away. Infuriating!

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 25/05/2020 10:14

My inability to simultaneously help two children with school work and keep the house tidy. It's driving me mad.

On the other hand... The fact that no one else in the family seems to notice I'm struggling and help constructively (i.e without creating extra work or just tidy up after themselves)

And Breath. Now back to the light-hearted nature...
-the people in our local supermarket car park who just drive over rows of parking spaces to escape, rather than following the 'roads' (I'm not meaning people pulling forward over a parking space so they drive in and out, instead of reversing, I'm meaning over several rows).

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 25/05/2020 11:07

People who mis-spell the names of very well-known people.

E.g. Kier Starmer
Judy Dench
Jane Austin
I honestly want to give them a really good e-slap.
(But I never do.)

Comingoutontop123 · 25/05/2020 11:10

People on MN thinking they must be the only person with an opinion about headline news so post another thread to add to the existing 50.

Sparklingbrook · 25/05/2020 11:12

I hear you @Comingoutontop123 every single brain fart about DC has been posted on here as a separate thread. 😴

Wincarnis · 25/05/2020 11:16

Drivers and cyclists that don’t indicate

Katinski · 25/05/2020 11:54

The word 'kid' or 'kids'.Angry
Kids are baby goats.

Andi2020 · 25/05/2020 12:06

Snoring and loud breathing from dh and the OP s one off not putting stuff back when cleaning. That's so we notice they have cleaned.

Dd1 Lying
Dd2 chats non stop nonsense
Ds1 lazy would do no school work if I don't sit with him.
Asked them all what annoys them about me.
Too busy reading mums not Smile
