Tried and tested remedy for ‘ice pick’ scars on face from acne

Please only tried and tested remedies. I’ve had them for years and don’t think they will go away naturally.

I’ve heard of microneedling but any experiences of whether that or anything else worked and how effective, was it a permanent remedy etc. would be helpful

Follow 'My Skin Story' on Instagram. She has this exact problem herself and has got lots of advice (I think she does advocate microneedling as well).

I've had micro-needling. Done 5 sessions over 8 months ish. I've definitely seen a big difference in my complexion, but more that it's brighter and quite radiant looking. I was always very red and blotchy looking as well but that's massively improved. Pigmentation patches have slightly improved and I continue to use spf50 every day.

As for the ice pick scars, they're still very visible but not as deep. I've given up wearing foundation though as it just sits in the scars no matter what I prime with.

I think it's worth it if you can get it for a decent price, but definitely not the £200 a session that I've seen advertised at salons. I was lucky I got a great deal with a highly qualified nurse who does it from part time, and it was about £40 per treatment.

I've also used retinol, hyaluronic and glycolic acids as well which helps. I enquired about deep chemical peels, but was told they're best for active acne. So I'm not sure what more there is to try out.

Thanks both so far!

Yeah microneedling seems very expensive and I’m worried of the immediately after look - there must be some scarring risk from the needles surely and I scar very easily
