And had lots of kids, what would you call your international brood?

For me it is always boys names I pick, and I’d go for:

Marek
Jerzy
Pawel
Luca
Marco

I’ll probably come back with more.

Irish girls' names for me. All of them!

Oh yes, I forgot Irish and Welsh names, and maybe some Cornish too.

Aneurin
Patrick
Seren
Caoimhe

I've always LOVED the name Saoirse but we've not got a drop of Irish in us :(

I like some Jewish names - Talia, Elisheva, Esty (Esther) and Yanky (short for Yakov/Jacob). (You might be able to tell I've been watching Shtisel and Orthodox on Netflix.)

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 22/05/2020 20:37

I like Indian names. Rajendra, Minashki, Ranj, Priyanka.

I guarantee you that us Irish wouldn't mind! Though it might be an odd sounding choice.

I love Arabic and Indian names, especially for girls. They are so beautiful.

Kittykatmacbill · 22/05/2020 20:59

Love Love love the name Noor, and polish boys names Tomas, aleksander (one of dd’s friends) etc and also some Hindi names uma, Tara, Lakshmi.

OhTheseSummerNiiiiights · 22/05/2020 21:03

I love Italian names.

I also love the surname Carmichael (no idea why and it certainly wouldn’t match an Italian theme Grin

CovidicusRex · 22/05/2020 21:05

I’ve always loved Mordecai and Lucretzia.

PaulinePetrovaPosey · 22/05/2020 21:11

Luuuurve Priya. Totally culturally inappropriate for me!

blancheduboiss · 22/05/2020 21:15

I love Liesel from The Book Thief but couldn’t seriously ever name a child that considering we’ve got no German heritage, and the questions would be endless.

emwithme · 22/05/2020 21:52

Priya
Florian

MooseBreath · 22/05/2020 22:00

I really wanted to call our girl Ksenia, but DH said it would be strange. Same with the name Dmitry, also vetoed for being culturally inappropriate. I do have some Russian heritage, but apparently not enough!

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 22/05/2020 22:04

I became obsessed with Angharad whilst pregnant.

No Welsh heritage and the fact that it's underlined in red as spelt wrong might be proof that it is tricky to spell/pronounce.

reluctantbrit · 22/05/2020 22:09

As someone who is German and has a French first name, on top it S a French one which is quite unknown in Germany or the UK, I was so traumatised that when I was pregnant I only had one goal:

I don’t care where the name comes from but a) it has to be clear what gender the child is and b) is easy to spell and pronounce.

My name was so often misspelt or thought I am male, I lost count of it.

This caused issues with DH, also a German, who wanted a German or Scandinavian name despite him having a name which so often spelt wrong that his company got him two email addresses, in both spellings, so he wouldn’t miss out.

Be careful when you name your child.

KatnissMellark · 22/05/2020 22:11

Giacomo

I've loved the name since I taught a young Italian boy English. He was such a character.

SnugglySnerd · 22/05/2020 22:11

I love the name Priya too, also Ibrahim for a boy.

MrsMoastyToasty · 22/05/2020 22:13

Kerenza - we're not Cornish.
Mercedes- we're not Spanish either.

CormoranStrike · 22/05/2020 22:39

Oh yes to Kerenza, Mordecai and Kacpar.
