Recommend me a deep fat fryer that doesn't stink!

Just that really. I have one that rarely gets used (though the kids love home made chips) but the smell lingers for days and days. Used it last night and I can smell the damned thing from my bed.

Oil changed each time, doors, windows open, kitchen door closed, what am I doing wrong?

Would love to have a go at lock-down doughnuts just like at the seaside but can't face the stench. Help me mumsnetters!

This thread is quite old, but if you’re here looking for a decent fryer, we’ve recently refreshed our best deep fat fryer page with plenty of high-quality options, including models loved by Mumsnet users and food industry experts. We hope you find it useful.

We stand our on the top of the hob and run the extractor hood, no lingering smells.

Hot oil stinks, it's unavoidable. That's why you can smell those seaside donuts a mile off!

I think the solution might be an air fryer but I don't know how good they are.

Airfryers don't stink. I like ours but DH wants to change it for the stinky variety because he thinks the chips are less good.

Airfryers are awesome. No smell, they cook food quickly and are significantly healthier as you use just a teaspoon of oil.

I meant to add, I use mine at least once a day.
Yesterday I did bacon for breakfast. Last night I did a veggie burger in it.
Tonight I'll be making salmon steaks in it for DD and I.
DD loves french fries, they go lovely and crispy and I don't feel like I'm feeding her a load of oil.

I cook most things in it. I live alone 50% of the time and when I'm on my own I barely switch on the oven. I have been known to live on chicken, fish or vegetarian burgers with salad in a wrap whenever she's not here.
