My parents and maternal grandparents used to say it. All Londoners.

elephantoverthehill · 21/05/2020 19:55

My Dm says it, Bristolian through and through. We all do the Friday week thing too.

pooopypants · 21/05/2020 20:03

@ginfordinner I didn't realise there were many of us in MN!!

woodhill · 21/05/2020 20:08

Definitely 5 & 20 to

IncrediblySadToo · 21/05/2020 20:14

Friends grandparents used to say it. They'd be well into their hundreds by now. My parents paid them to do after school childcare for a while, but they weren't very nice. So relieved when it came to an end!!

It's something that takes me back to that time.

CoronaIsComing · 21/05/2020 20:15

My grandma used to say it and was also from Yorkshire.

Tink1990 · 21/05/2020 20:20

My nan says it too! West Midlands

ItsTheKissing · 21/05/2020 20:20

I do (Midlands) Got it from my Nan who would be 104 if still alive Smile

SnugglySnerd · 21/05/2020 21:17

My grandparents who said it were West Midlands too!

listsandbudgets · 21/05/2020 21:20

Love that phrase. My nan used to use it. Time to resurrect it I think

Five and twenty past and five and twenty to :)

confusedofengland · 21/05/2020 21:38

My 87-year old grandad says it, he's from East London/Essex borders.

Notso · 21/05/2020 22:33

It always makes me smile when I hear it because it reminds me of my Grandma.

ExCwmbranDweller · 21/05/2020 22:37

My lovely Wessie Grandpa used to say it, I can hear his gorgeous Yorkshire accent in my head best when I think of him saying this about the time. Aw I miss him, gutted my children never got to know him and his accent.

ClientQ · 21/05/2020 22:37

Nope but I say "haff" instead of half which drives my boss mad BlushGrin
As in "haff past"
I think it might be a Lancashire thing...

Worriedaboutthefuture1 · 21/05/2020 22:39

My dad says “five and twenty to.” He is 80 and from London’s East End. He is the only person I’ve ever met who says it.

LadyMuck111 · 21/05/2020 22:40

Yes!! My nanna used to say it all the time!!
