What one thing do you do to increase quality in your life during Lockdown?

A few years ago there was a brilliant thread on here about small ways to increase your quality of life. It gave me a real boost when I was feeling down in the dumps. Although I totally support the lockdown I'm really flagging psychologically and sometimes feel there is nothing to look forward to. I'd love to hear your ideas on how to make each day a bit more pleasurable!

Meditation, reading, podcasts, nice food, walking early morning and again in the evening either on my own or with a friend, takeaway coffee socially distancing with a friend, socially distanced pimms or processo with a friend, socially distanced takeaway with a friend...

RAOK · 21/05/2020 00:45

Also have a big break from your phone and only watch the news once a day, twice tops.

TimeWastingButFun · 21/05/2020 01:13

Get up early and sit outside with good coffee, and listen to the dawn chorus.

BogRollBOGOF · 21/05/2020 01:28

Walk/ run pretty much daily. I doubly feel it if I miss a day. It makes me feel awake and alive and keeps me in touch with the real world. Bonus points if ot involves conversayion with an aquaintance.

Make healthier salads for lunch now I have the time.
Go for daily woodland walks.
Eat breakfast sat in the back garden.
Sunbathe in between meetings.
Not drink alcohol as I'm less stressed so don't need it. Make nice mixers of non alcoholic drinks.
A longer skin care regimen as have the time.

I bloody loved the first month of lockdown, I baked, completed jigsaws, played board games, read, ran. Currently I am a bit low, hormones possibly, and find that listening to the birds without the backing track of vehicles is really uplifting. I am also watching a Miss Marple episode with DD everyday whilst consuming buckets of tea from a pint mug.

I loved the earlier weeks too Afonavon - once I was over the (?)virus I was exercising plenty, decluttering, making sure we had family time and spending time as a couple, now everything just feels so much effort

Monthly cheese club delivery. It arrived today and I love it.

MsTSwift · 21/05/2020 07:18

Make dinner same time as lunch so when dinner time comes it’s all done and don’t have to spend all day clearing up kitchen. Lunch is kitchen trash zone any child’s baking has to be done then. Then kitchen cleared up for the day.

Sit in the garden everyday, been reading, stopped ironing clothes shielded until end of June, so who cares! Also using the hot tub, or chavvy sex pond as they are charmingly referred to on MN, ours isn’t a sex pond I doubt our 18&17 DS’ would appreciate that!

okiedokieme · 21/05/2020 07:30

Nice food, decent wine, walks at sunset - but both still working (mostly wfh) so keeps us occupied. But (shh) this week I had to go into the office to fix the remote computer software which means I had to stay with dd which is nice but looking forward to going back to dp's for the rest of semi lockdown.

wiltingflower · 21/05/2020 13:42

Took up knitting, got tik tok, read at least once weekly and do some Pilates every other day.

IamnotaStepfordHousewife · 25/06/2020 07:59

Listening to audio books whilst working at home
Gardening - growing vegetables and fruit mainly
Jigsaw puzzles
Cooking
Taking time just to sit and enjoy the outside

Normally leaving the house at 7 and not back until about 530 /6 so enjoying the extra quiet time and lack of commute

SomewhereEast · 25/06/2020 08:10

I hated 99% of lockdown (hyperactive 5yo for starters) BUT....we finally decided to take the plunge and get a cat, and that has been lovely! He's really brightened up the house

AngryPrincess · 25/06/2020 17:14

Get outside - meditate - read on kobo - a hobby, (mine is playing piano, but it could be anything. Memrise are good) - cook

AngryPrincess · 25/06/2020 18:10

I nearly forgot - put on some rocking music!

derxa · 25/06/2020 19:05

I go and look at my pet lambs. I give their little heads a wee scratch.

cleopatrascorset · 25/06/2020 19:25

Run every other day without fail. Even if I'm tired or busy dragging myself out for a quick 5k clears my head and keeps me feeling healthy.

richard1471 · 25/06/2020 19:28

A daily walk- luckily two small parks, a common and a wood nearby. Today I checked how the ducklings are getting on.

WellTidy · 25/06/2020 19:31

I am going through my haul of beauty products and actually using them. I started in earnest at the beginning of the year (so it’s not purely a lockdown thing, but I have continued it during lockdown) and I’ve finished maybe 50-60 things already. I haven’t bought anything beauty wise since before Christmas and I’m really enjoying using and appreciating what I have. I’m not replacing anything until I’ve used all of that thing that I have in my haul. And it’s creating loads of space in the bathroom!

Growingboys · 25/06/2020 19:46

Not drink

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 25/06/2020 19:48

Buy really good teabags. Proper tea without the faff. So much nicer than ordinary
