Which plants for my wooden planter?

Pine planter sized 23 x 17 x 15 inches. So big.
In sunny south facing, semi exposed position.
All plants must be low maintenance (I don't have a good track record Blush) but happily give back cheery blooms again and again.
Perennials, evergreens - these types of plant, please.
In my mind I visualise pretty grasses on either end, a bushy flowering plant in the middle and a couple of small, overhanging droopy ones along the front and sides. Not so much the back as it'll be positioned close to out house wall.

So...not asking for much then! Taking into consideration the above, what would YOU choose to put in the planter?

TIA.

I’m not a great gardener by any means but do have a go at some pots and baskets with varying degrees of success. Last year I got some striped geraniums from B&M. They were really cheery and survived me anyway for the summer. I would definitely get some more.

Ask MNHQ to move your thread to the Gardening board - there are lots of knowledgeable posters on there.

Platycodon Grandiflorus (Balloon Flower) might be an idea for the "bushy flowering plant" in the middle. They're interesting and lovely and will keep producing flowers if you feed them and dead-head them regularly from Spring to Autumn. To be honest, they will to a lesser extent even if you don't.

I share an East facing garden and pretty much neglect this pot plant during the Winter months to no ill effect. The only very minor downside is that it completely disappears once the flowering season is over so it's a waiting game to tell in spring whether you have a dead plant or one that's about to sprout.

Wallflowers - very long and abundant flowering period, hard to kill and come in lots of different colours Smile
