Asthma Covid figures?

Hi
In light of recent figures on diabetes as an underlying condition increasing severity of illness for patients with coronavirus, does anyone know what the figures are for people with asthma? Trying to weigh up risks to mental health of 6months with no school on against risk of covid19 with asthma. Any help greatly appreciated!

Thanks. That's very comforting.

I have moderate asthma & COPD (not a smoker). I had Covid-19 in March (recently paid £99 for an accurate antibody lab test, it came back positive); it was pretty unpleasant but I doubled up on my inhaled steroids during the illness and I didn't get any worsening of my breathing at all. I know I'm just one anecdotal example, and our response to the virus may depend quite a lot on our genes, but there it is fwiw.

I think a lot of asthmatics worry about steroids - I did, but I ended up in A&E on many occasions because I was skipping my steroid inhaler & having bad attacks. It took a while for me to wake up & smell the coffee, but eventually I realised my inhaler gives a dose measured in micrograms & goes straight to my lungs, whereas the steroid tablets (prednisolone) I was frequently being given in hospital have doses in milligrams (ie 1,000 times stronger) and this affects the whole body because it's taken by mouth. I stopped skipping my inhaler about 15 years ago & haven't been given prednisolone since.

I had it in Feb and its triggered my asthma which has been in abeyance for the last few years. Steroid inhalers are helping. I'd rather live with asthma than longer Lockdown.
