Reusable nappies

Hi, I’m looking at reusable nappies but I’m going round in circles! What exactly do I need and is there anything particular I should be looking for? Brands that are better and why are they? How much hassle are they? Thanks

Have a look at "the nappy lady" online, they have a questionnaire which gives you a suggestion of which nappies will suit your baby and your lifestyle.

I used all in one nappies with my first child for ease, but this time have chosen two part nappies because she wees a lot! The two parters have an absorbent middle and a waterproof wrap.

I dont find them much hassle at all but I do only use them part time, about 50% of the daytime and not overnight at the moment. When DD is past the newborn stage and not pooping every hour then I plan to use them most of the day time

I used them for 2dc and I found it pretty easy to do. The Nappy Lady is a good shout, I used loads of brands but my youngest is 4 now so am out of the loop with the current brands.

Hi op I switched my child into reusables from 19 months and he's 21 months now so I don't have much experience but honestly don't find it too much work or effort at all now that I'm in a nice routine (the first couple of weeks of finding my feet were admittedly a bit of a faff and I can imagine it being harder with a newborn as they get through more nappies than a toddler!). I'm so happy we switched and would recommend it.

We use little lamb cloth nappies (the bamboo ones that have a Velcro fastening and have waterproof wraps that are worn over the top of the nappy). At night I bulk the nappy out with a booster (which is essentially just a piece of fabric) and we put a disposable liner in every nappy in case of poo. All of these things from little lambs website.

Used nappies and wraps get put in our tots bots nappy bucket and I wash every other day with persil non bio powder on 40. They take 2 days to dry on the line and we have just over 20 nappies (and 7 wraps as u don't need to change the wrap every time u change the nappy) so it all works out ok and I've never been caught short.

We use cheeky wipes too.

When I was starting out and researching I found this YouTube helpful

Good luck and I'm happy to answer any questions.

Amazing, thank you everyone. I was getting too much when I googled so hard to tell what was good info. Great to have somewhere to start. Really keen to use them so I didn’t want to end up spending lots of money but getting some that weren’t right and being put off
