Tedious question about alarm clocks

This is very boring but hopefully someone can help!

I am very sensitive to light in the bedroom and DP is as blind as a bat. At the moment he has a clock with a large display but it is really bright so every night we have a tussle where I have to lie it face down so I can sleep.

Can anyone suggest a clock that has large numbers and maybe only illuminates if you tap it? Or isn't too bright?

We use the alarm in a Pure radio. Only the numbers light up, and they automatically dim depending on the light in the room. But the numbers are large and clear, so he'd be able to read them if it was on his side of the bed.

Is it that siesta rise? Looks great, thank you

Make a filter for the front with coloured cellophane.

Tape together yellow toffee wrappers (the penny toffee ones in Quality Street are great) if that's not dark enough either use red or double up with red.

I use them to soften the light from my up/down lighters in my lounge and they work very well.

This is not tedious. I would also like an alarm clock that can't be seen in the dark and doesn't tick. I'd like to stop having my phone plugged in right next to my head.

Would he be able to see one of those clocks that show on the ceiling?

RandomMess · 17/05/2020 11:19

I like complete darkness and I find the projector clock fine.

We just use our phones

This has massive numbers and can be either lit up, or dark and lit up briefly by tapping the large button on the top.

Sorry I missed the bit where he can't see well!

If you’re very sensitive to light in the bedroom why not just wear an eye mask? Confused

Lamentations · 17/05/2020 14:50

Yes strapping something around your head every night for the rest of your life is by far the simplest solution.

We have a London clock company one. It’s dark but has a bright blue backlight when you press it. This is it. It’s run out of batteries which is why there’s no numbers on it.

We recently bought two Acctim Invicta clocks from John Lewis and they'd suit you, I think. No tick, no light, just touch a button on top lightly for nighttime illumination. Digital, radio controlled, easy to set the alarm.
