Tummy hurt when I drank milk for the first time

I've got mild ibs, bloating, nausea and tiredness. Im used to it now, some months I'm good and bloat occasionally and other times I'm feeling all the symptoms at once and I struggle.
Funnily enough eating healthier and excersise made me worse.

Anyway to the poimt.
I've always enjoyed a glass of milk but I can't remember when the last time I had a glass, and I really fancied one so I drank. A small glass of semi skimmed cows milk and instantly my stomach felt full my belly hurt a little then I felt nausea.

Never in my life that has ever happend, I tried the cutting out dairy products 2 years ago and it didn't make much of a difference.

I Guess that's my last glass of milk for a while

IBS is weird. I can eat any amount of some foods and get away with it if I'm stress free and well. If I'm stressed and not looking after myself, a little bit does it.

One of my sons seems to be a bit intolerant to milk.
Sometimes he takes it and is totally fine. But if I gave him too much, like a few glasses a day he would start to look a bit ‘allergic’. Very red and puffy around the eyes, and his eczema would flare up.
If I use the milk you get in the supermarket it’s one thing. But for example he had the milk in McDonalds one day and was doubled up in agony for an hour after. Then it passed and he was fine. He has had an ice cream when we are out a few times and it’s given him severe tummy pain, cramps diarrhoea etc.
He has other allergies and he consultant said we are doing the right thing by not completely omitting it. If we did he may never be able to take it again. But most small amounts don’t bother him.
You might be like him and need to keep a low regular level going, to avoid the flare ups when you take it rarely, if that makes sense?

If you don't have dairy products regularly your body stops making the enzyme needed to digest the lactose. Are you still eating other dairy products like cheese and yogurts?

I get this with cream. Even when in food. Get terrible wind too. I'm fine with all other dairy though it's strange. I feel like it's irritating my stomach. It's hard to describe the feeling.

For me it's the amount and usually a combination of dairy or rich food eaten at the same time that gives me a bad stomach.

For example I can have a tiny bit of fresh cream and I can eat cake but I can't eat both together in a fresh cream cake. The combination of the two tips me over the edge.

Same with trifle - which I darent eat. it's the double whammy of cream and custard at the same time that give me stomach ache. Custard or cream separately is fine.

If I've had breakfast cereal with milk in the morning, I wouldn't have anything dairy for the rest of the day.

I was always told that it can’t be what u have just had that is making your stomach hurt as it takes a while to reach where your going.
Maybe look at what u had the day before.
I have ibs and it can take up to 24 hours for something to make my ibs flare up
