Looking for ideas for things to make with my 2 year old. Ideally things he can get more involved in.

Just give him a blunt knife and whatever veg you're using.

AlltheLemurs · 16/05/2020 10:31

I do that but it would be nice to have something he could get more involved in.

Cakes, wrap or bagel pizzas, they chop then smear tomatoe purée on and add toppings ready soon for eating so bonus!

Things that we can make quite quickly as attention span is short.

Chocolate nest cakes
Fairy cakes
Cookies
Gingerbread men
Omelettes/ scrambled egg

And he generally helps me mix or chop things that I am cooking

Oh we might try bagel pizza. We have had a lot of cake recently as it was his birthday.

My son loves pizza making and we use English muffins as the base. He grates the cheese himself, adds tomato purée and toppings e.g veg, ham.

French toast. She loves the dipping part Grin

Scones. Self raising flour, oil and soaked raisins. I used to use an old ice cream tub, then they can smoosh oil through with fingers, lid on for a shake. then raisins plus a bit of raisin water until it forms a ball. Easy peasy and not too unhealthy.

I had twins and could manage doing two lots at the same time. You can swap raisins out for different fruit just add water. They used to love washing hands with flour to get dough off.

Rubbing the fat into the flour for crumble topping (they are too heavy-handed for scones or pastry).

Rolling falafel into balls.

PuntoEBasta · 16/05/2020 11:34

Oh and podding peas once they come into season in a few weeks.

womaninatightspot · 16/05/2020 11:45

Do any peas actually make it to the pot I'm left with nothing but skins?

ForeverBubblegum · 16/05/2020 11:56

Biscuits. Anything else I more or less do in front of him, while he tries to eat the ingredients but with biscuits he gets involved with the rolling and cutting out.
