Completely last minute. Email 45 mins ago. Until then the plan was to stay open.

Can’t access normal holiday childcare. Can’t send to grandparents. Not 100% sure what I’m expected to do tbh?

Too late to book annual leave as rota’s are done and out
40% of our key worker staff are already off isolating, sick or shielding
Not a job I can do from home either

They are closing to prep for June 1st Angry

How could songs give more notice when the government didn't? Staff need time to prepare. It won't be a proper break, they'll be planning. It's shit but please don't blame the school.

Definitely ring your LA. We were open Easter and had pupils from other schools.

Critical workers need to work, so hopefully you can find school to have them.

I really feel for you OP. Bloody shit.

Round here it would be impossible to find anything else. The wrap around care I usually rely on is shut and childminders are so rare and completely booked up I've been trying to find one for years with space.

The only thing I can think of is childcare. Co. UK you might be able to find a nanny for a week.

Otherwise if there is a family member that would be willing this is now allowed if you are a critical worker

We are staying open for keyworkers' children over half term (I'm on the rota) but it was by staff consent..we were asked and said yes...regardless of whether we are paid or not.
But there will be a hun somewhere near you..

Schools aren't child care. It's the school holidays, why should teachers be working?

KobeWan · 16/05/2020 02:05

I'm in the same situation - my child's school are shutting for half term but I'm on the rota in my school which is open. They're not allowed to come with me to mine and I can't ask anyone else to have them, so I'll need to find a hub. 🤦‍♀️
