If you have thyroid issues could I ask you something?

I remember reading on here ages ago that the acceptable levels of thyroxine etc in the UK were judged differently from other countries, and consequently a lot of people with issues were being overlooked.

Mine are currently TSH 1.34 and FT4 13.9. They are apparently on the low side of optimal, but still ok.

Could anyone with any experience of this kind of thing shed light? Thyroid issues run in my family and I'd be interested to see if these results would be seen differently under different criteria

Hi, I can share my experience. I’m in the UAE and was diagnosed with an under active thyroid and then Hashimotos disease after DS1 was born about 4 years ago. At the time of diagnosis my TSH was 184 and I honestly though I was dying!

Anyway, I have just dug out a recent-ish set of blood results. These were deemed to be ‘ok’ by my doctor and she didn’t make any adjustment to my current dose which is 150mg of thyroxine every day.
