Wash & Blow Dry Toilets

I'm not sure where the best place to start this thread was so I'm putting it here in the hope of more answers.

Does anyone have any experience of wash and blow dry toilets? Any good or bad points would be much appreciated Smile

Do they curl, straighten and colour too?

I'm going to have to google these as I have never heard of them!

The one thing I do know is that they like to ask you about your holiday plans Grin

Sounds like a modern day alternative to the street corner!

AlCalavicci · 14/05/2020 12:51

My DM had to use one , the wash bit of it was good but the drying took a long time ( but I guess you don't want a tornado around your bits Shock )

That said this was 20 years ago so a lot may of changed by then .

Are you looking at one from a disability pov or as an alternative to using paper?

MulticolourMophead · 14/05/2020 13:20

Japanese toilets are miles ahead of ours. If I get a chance, I'd love to install a decent Japanese toilet in our house.

From a disability pov, TheGreatWave

The main ones are either the clos-o-mat or the Geberit. The clos-o-mat is probably the better of the two, and if needed it is possible to have a shower/commode chair to go over the top. (palma vita) The settings have to be pre-set by an engineer so it is not possible to make home adjustments. The main way of using it is the pads on the cistern but these are generally useless for someone who requires a wash dry toilet, so the pad is a lot better (there is also an infrared switch option) Space wise they generally fit where the existing toilet is, though sometimes adjustments do need to be made if the toilet is close to a wall. They have many options to tailor it to an individual.

There is also the geberit (aqua clean) - I don't know as much about this one, but that one is possible to adjust settings at home.

They do, apparently take a little getting used to (I have never actually used one) but people who have had them fitted generally consider them a lifesaver in terms of their personal dignity.

If you are UK you may be able to get a DFG to pay for it (obviously means tested though)

Water and electric usage is low, the clos-o-mat the waste goes before the clean and dry cycle. It can however take a little getting used / finding the right position if a woman has a double douche arm (so sprays front and back)

I've had one for years, wouldn't be without it. There is a slightly larger-than -usual seat, which is connected to a power point. And a selection pad next to the seat. You just press the required buttons and off you go. It warms the seat, and you can have whatever temperature water that you want. Ditto the dryer. You don't need to use toilet paper at all, and it makes you lovely and clean every time.

Thank you so much, TGW and Stellabelle, that's very useful information.
