How do I take care of daughters long natural curls

My daughter has naturally curly wavy blonde hair, I think it's 2b.
If I wet her hair and didnt brush it she would have long loose ringlets but the top is wavy and if I brushed it it would be really wavy and her hair isn't super thick.

The problem I'm having with it is her hair gets incredibly tangled and notty, so her hair is always in plaits.

I don't have curly hair and I'm at a loss on how to take care of her hair.

She's only 6 and I want her to love her princess curls and she wants bum length hair but because it gets so tangled I have to keep trimming it to her belly button to get rid of the dry split ends.

Any tips????

Never brush curly hair only comb it when it's wet. When you wash it put conditioner on don't wash it out. Comb it then when it's still wet. Leave in conditioner spray is brilliant for spraying on to wet hair so you can get the comb through to style it.

don't brush it. Comb it gently.

plait it at night.

she either puts up with combing it and plaiting it or has it cut. otherwise she'll end up with huge knots and have to have it cut anyway.

when she is older she may well got bored with the faff of curly hair and want it straightened. and for the love of god, lose the 'princess' thing!!

Look up the curly girl method. There are lots of threads on mumsnet about it. There are also lots of Facebook groups including one called Little CG's or something similar. That one is great for kids as they are not as strict at following the method as some of the adult groups.
Basically don't brush, only comb with wide tooth comb when wet. No shampoo or low-poo shampoo if preferred. Wash with conditioner that is curly girl friendly (lots of recommendations on the Facebook group).

Blue Magic conditioner and a wooden wide toothed comb.

Never, ever, dry brush her hair. Shampoo, then work loads of conditioner in and gently comb it with a wide toothed comb. Then allow it to air dry, if possible. If she wants to encourage the curls you could look up the curly girl method - it's a lot of hanging upside down and faffing about so it might be difficult to get a little one on board with it, but there's no harm in trying.

first thing, never brush dry curly hair. It will just turn into frizz. Try and wash it every 3 days, I used this shampoo on dd, patted dry with an old tshirt, smoothed in the curl cream through her hair, and brushed through with a wide toothed comb. Let it dry naturally (I washed hair in the afternoon or once she was home from school), and leave down to go to bed. When she woke up, I would put it into a singular plait at the back of her head to keep it back from her face, or a braided bun if she was going to school. I also used a nit comb once every week to check (don't shampoo, just cover her head in regular conditioner and comb through, then shampoo afterwards), as I found it much harder to treat nits on curly/long hair so it was easier to keep on top of it.

all the best x
