Ideas for 8yo birthday in lockdown

DS is 8 next week. I'm feeling very uninspired after 2 months of lockdown. Any suggestions of what to do?
I'd love for him to be able to do something with his friends but I'm not sure what. Any ideas for virtual games which would work for 8yo?
He's quite a homebody and has been very resistant to any ideas of going for a walk or a bike ride so neither of those are on the cards. I feel as though we have exhausted all of the possible silly garden games, obstacle courses etc.
He would probably love a day of uninterrupted screen time but I feel as though we should do a bit more than that!
Thanks

My DC has done a few scavenger hunts on zoom with friends. They’re great! www.theandroidsoul.com/zoom-scavenger-hunt/
There are some places open for take-aways now.
Piñatas and treasure hunts are always popular birthday treats in our house.

Thanks! That's something I just hadn't thought of. I'm coming up with a plan based on that and something like Pictionary

It was dd1's 9th birthday on Tuesday. She wanted "surprises", so we organised 3 things.

  1. We did a Harry Potter themed escape room in the spare room - basically 8 puzzles leading to a code to escape the room.
  2. A funfair in the back garden - mainly stuff we had already (so a nerf gun and a pile of cans became a shooting gallery, bath ducks and some hooks from the garage became hook a duck, we made a hoopla, and a sweetie stall, and filled the trampoline with water balloons). We did buy a candy floss maker for this which was part of her birthday present.
  3. We organised a zoom party with some school friends, did a quiz and played bingo and they chatted.

It wasn't expensive, but did take time to set up.

Some sort of treasure hunt that leads him to his presents? Clues around the house, or even out on a cycle route or something? Maybe a certain theme of something he likes a lot? Lots of ideas online. I'm going to need something for my stb 13yo at this rate...

It was our son's 8th this week. He chose breakfast (waffles) and dinner (takeaway), and loved opening his presents and playing with them. We didn't do any school work, his grandparents came and sang happy birthday from a distance. He had a zoom chat with his closest friends, where they basically chuckled at one another for half an hour 🙈 Declared it the best birthday ever, bless him. Hope your son has a good one too-it's the simplest of things usually Smile
