Are we allowed to go on a picnic now?

I've tried looking online but one thing says yes another still no.

I would like to take the dc for a picnic but don't want to get fined or told I shouldn't be there.

Yes

Bloodybridget · 13/05/2020 07:44

I thought we could. If you can sunbathe , which is definitely allowed, why not a a picnic?

Sirzy · 13/05/2020 07:45

Yes. But only with members of your own household and maintaining social distance from other people.

Many areas are also requesting (understandably) that people don’t travel from a distance to them.

(Assuming your in England anyway)

From today you can.

Angel2702 · 13/05/2020 07:53

Yes but there won’t be toilets open anywhere so unless it’s a very short picnic close to home I think we will wait. Also not sure how comfortable I’d feel eating and putting hands near mouth when out now especially with no toilets available to wash hands before you eat.

Katyy · 13/05/2020 07:53

Don’t forget though there will be no toilets open so probably best not to go too far.

pretzele · 13/05/2020 07:56

Thank you. I was only going to take them somewhere local as I did wonder about toilets being open.

There is incorrect information on this post

Yes you can and you can also meet one other person from another household

You can also drive to it

CoolShoeshine · 13/05/2020 08:01

I thought that public toilets were on the list of things open?
Too cold for a picnic though Grin

IncrediblySadToo · 13/05/2020 08:03

@tearsandtiaras

What incorrect information exactly?

@pretzele. In England you can. You can drive somewhere. Just make sure the kids understand you are still not allowed to play with others or on any play equipment - they can take a ball & play together.

Obviously the weather here is crap today!

IncrediblySadToo · 13/05/2020 08:05

@tearsandtiaras

Yes you can and you can also meet one other person from another household

Only 1:1 not one family meeting 1 other person/family

danni0509 · 13/05/2020 08:05

Public toilets are open here and the usual charge to use them isn't being charged.

tearsandtiaras · 13/05/2020 08:06

Please don't let bullyish members on here dictate what its "prob best" you "should do"

The gov instructions i posted provide you with all the information you need to make an informed decision

Enjoy!

tearsandtiaras · 13/05/2020 08:08

Incrediblysad the incorrect information was by sirzy who said you are only allowed to be with members of your own household

tearsandtiaras · 13/05/2020 08:09

Incredibly sad yes i am aware of the rules about social distance contact thanks, I posted them on here with a clear link from the government for others to follow.

Sirzy · 13/05/2020 08:10

If a family is going for a picnic then they are only allowed with members of their own household.

Meeting someone else is only allowed on a 1-1 basis.

00100001 · 13/05/2020 08:12

@Angel2702 "especially with no toilets available to wash hands before you eat."

You could just take soap and water with you Confused

00100001 · 13/05/2020 08:12

Or wet wipes..

Sally872 · 13/05/2020 08:18

Are you in England OP? If so then you can. But not allowed to mix households so stay 2m away from anyone else.

If in Scotland you can't, I think it is the same in Wales and NI. Maybe this is the other information you have seen.

CoolShoeshine · 13/05/2020 08:21

I am worried about the government giving people free rein to drive anywhere within their country. Everyone’s going to be traveling to the same beaches and beauty spots for their picnics and sunbathing, stopping off for petrol on the way, using loos, buying takeaway snacks - recipe for disaster and totally unnecessary!

AnnPerkins · 13/05/2020 08:40

Here's the first point from the gov.uk link posted above:

1.1 What can I do that I couldn’t do before?
There will be a limited number of things you can do that you cannot do now:

Eh? Confused Grin

00100001 · 13/05/2020 16:46

@CoolShoeshine bit most people won't actually do that.

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 13/05/2020 16:51

If your in England Yes you can provided you can social distance from others where you sit and have the picnic

Do think about things like public toilets not being open though!

TinRoofRusty · 13/05/2020 16:57

Not all public toilets are closed Hmm.

You can bring soap and water to wash your hands.

Go out, enjoy the Spring.
