Baby not crawling or walking

Hi everyone,
I’m sure I’m worrying about nothing but my nearly 11 month old baby boy isn’t yet bum shuffling, crawling or walking.
He isn’t interested in pulling himself up or when standing him against the sofa he will just lean his chest against it and won’t bend down to pick anything up off the floor.

Obviously in current climate he won’t get his 10 month check to ask someone.

Apart from that he is hitting all his other milestones, he just likes sitting on the floor with his toys watching his older brother!

Did anyone else have this worry? Would love to hear from you to help find out if I need to see the doctor/paediatrician.

Thanks all xx

My dd was the same at 11 months. She was late meeting all those milestones; she bum shuffled from 13 months, started to pull up at 19 months, crawled at 20 months and walked at nearly 22 months! I’m not sure why she was so late, she’s 7 now and has no issues! Some babies just take longer and i think bum shufflers take longer to walk as it’s harder for them to learn to pull up and then walk. Might be worth having a chat with a health visitor if you’re worried.

That’s not worryingly late. Still within range, and younger siblings do tend to take slightly longer than the eldest, because the older one brings stuff to them, but speak to a HV by phone if you’re concerned.

Not walking is considered normal up to 18 months.

You can still chat to your HV over the phone.

OP, my DS was v similar at 10months - rolling and sitting well but not pulling up at all. You might be able to find the 10 month check questionnaire online somewhere but it sounds like he won’t yet be meeting his milestones for gross motor skills. We pursued a referral to a physio via the GP at about 13 months. In our case he was diagnosed with hyper mobility and prescribed orthopaedic boots. He has just started walking independently at 23 months.

We were told that GPs tend not to be concerned about non-walkers until after 18 months but we were advised to seek help sooner because he wasn’t pulling up or cruising at all. The physio referral took three months to come through in the end so we were glad that we had pursued it when we did.

This is the 10 month questionnaire that the HV would have given you before the 10m check.
