How can we help the local community?

Local organisation with a limited budget allocated to the local community during Covid - do any of you have any bright ideas?

We've bought iPads for nursing homes so that patients can facetime their relatives, and donated a ton of cash to the food bank, but is there anything else we're missing?

P.S. we've only got till 19:30 to come up with something!

Buy or make reusable face masks for the community. Most people need them now and it will also help prevent people panic buying PPE items needed by keyworkers and at inflated prices.

Yikes!
Offer to pay a nurse's registration fee?
Pay for a printer/paper/ink for a community group that are distributing activity packs for kids?
Ask the church if they know of vulnerable people that'd appreciate a delivery of books?
Contact schools to do similar to above.
Sponsor a competition for children to design cards to send to neighbours. Offer prizes for best designs.
Any disability groups you could offer £ to?
Carers groups? Offer to fund their next activity (whenever that might be).

And anything you do needs to be done safely, especially for the vulnerable, rather than something risking bringing the virus in. But I'm guessing with a user name like that, you already know that...

Domestic-level hand gel and soap might also be welcomed.

Fish and Chip supper, delivered to older/vulnerable residents?

Cream tea delivered as above.

Put up a walking quiz or clue based treasure hunt for children with a prize?

Thanks all!

@havelockveterini what did you decide in the end?

HavelockVetinari · 13/05/2020 12:59

I got the meeting date wrong, it's actually tonight - I'll mention all the above and see what folk think. I like the idea of disability groups, particularly those offering respite care.

I read this morning that respite care doesn't seem to be happening at the moment, with carers having to cope alone in the main.
