Lymecycline - acne experiences

I have just started Lymecycline today alongside Epiduo Gel for acne. My acne is not severe but is pretty constant around my chin/jaw area and it has been making me feel down and insecure for a long time. I thought with not wearing make up for 2 months (due to only leaving the house to work) my skin would have calmed down but if anything it has got worse.

I am wondering if anyone has been on this medication or similar and can share their experiences?

I think it takes around 6 weeks before I start to see results but I really hope it works! The information leaflet says it helps with black and white heads but those aren't my problem so fingers crossed it works for other types of spots.

Thanks in advance!

I appreciate that it’s expensive, but can you see a dermatologist privately?

Thanks @Fluffycloudland77. It's frustrating because the locum was more than willing to refer me but she said I had to try the Lymecycline first to show it had be tried.

Then when I went back and said it hadn't worked the locum had moved on, as they do, and the GP I saw said it wasn't bad enough to refer and if he did refer then it would be rejected.

I've read up on Roaccutane. I'm more than prepared to go on it. I've been asking for years but haven't managed to convince anyone yet.

My acne really wasn't that bad, not compared to some of the teens I saw at the dermatology clinic and when I had my initial appointment it was ok so I thought they would discharge me. They didn't and agreed to put me on roaccutane because the antibiotics etc hadn't worked.

For those who's GP won't refer, I'd insist and say you want them to judge whether it's bad enough or not. A GP is not qualified for that.

@Qwerty543 I think that's going to be my next move. I don't usually like GP bashing but they do often seem in a rush to diagnose and treat things they're not qualified to diagnose.

Yes @MushroomTree. It can be frustrating when it isn't their specialist area but are the ones who can stand in the way of you being referred. I was lucky, asked for a referral and it was just done. I never felt dismissed at the dermatologist either.

I've been asking on and off for years. All I get is the pill or Lymecycline.
