Copper bracelet

Does anyone wear one of these for joint pain? I’m at my wits end with so many aches and pains in my joints (I exercise regularly, eat a balanced diet, sleep well, have a good mattress, I do take care of myself!) and am now wondering about buying one of these.
Are they a waste of time? Has anyone had success with them?
I’m very sceptical!

Almost certainly but the placebo effect is powerful, it works even when you know something is a placebo. As long as you don't suddenly believe some nonsense explanation (if it helps) it does no harm to try.

Yes, I think it might be like the time I tried acupuncture (for something else), I was sceptical and feel like it did nothing for me.
Maybe I need to be a little less cynical. It can’t do me any harm, I might aswell get one and see how I get on.

Or Epsom salts for your bath?

It's absolute bunkum. York Uni did a study on it about 6/7 years ago with people who had osteoarthritis. There was another study done with rheumatoid arthritis sufferers as well (can't remember who did the study). It is entirely placebo. The best that can be said is that they're harmless, even if your skin does go green.

Have you tried a glucosamine supplement? That might help. There's one with added turmeric which is a good natural anti-inflammatory, or add turmeric to food.

If your pain is really bothering you, it's something you should alert your GP to (I know, easier said than done).

I haven’t tried magnesium oil, I’ll check that out, thanks.
I do take glucosamine which I believe contains magnesium. I do use Epsom salts and have done for a few years since I had a couple of slipped discs and suffer recurring aches and pains there too.
I have read the York study!!

Vitamin D and magnesium tablets sorted out my aches and pains, and the magnesium also stopped my ankles swelling up in warm weather.

Basically, I’m slowly disintegrating and falling to bits!! It’s horrible, I don’t feel like I should be having so many problems at my age, I’m supposed to be in the prime of life (ha! Well okay, maybe not the prime but certainly closeish!!).
I have seen my gp before and just been fobbed off really, saying I should take anti inflammatories which I did but then got to the point where I had taken them for a solid month and was still in the same situation so stopped. I feel like I’m just wasting their time and should be able to manage my symptoms myself. I’m not sure there’s anything they can do for me anyway.
I see and osteo and a physio for my back and have done for years now but I’ve obviously not been able to go for a while and it’s noticeable.

How old are you, OP? I have significant joint pain and have done for years. Mine is related to Crohn's disease. I'm mid 30s. I keep mine in check with exercise (strong muscles around the joints hold them in place) and Vit D supplements.

Posted too soon! I also see an osteopath and it's very helpful. I can't take painkillers either (cheers, Crohn's!)

I’m 35. Maybe it’s just the age 😳
What exercise do you do? I do Pilates, some strength training with resistance bands and fairly light weights and cycling because it’s less irritating to my joints than running. I’m not a swimmer but I know this is a great low impact sport, it’s just not for me.
I walk a lot but never know whether this is sensible or not!

Yes I’ve switched between an osteo and a chiro over the last few years.
I see the physio purely for a soft tissue massage once every 3 weeks or so, it’s more relaxing than anything else but it does help getting knots out and working on those sore areas.

I'm not a fan of swimming either. I do big weights - I wasn't seeing any benefit from light weights and cardio so I went all in on the weight lifting. It really helped! Also some pilates. Just move as much as possible or I'll seize up.

I think I’ll give the copper band a side swerve Grin
Will look into some different supplements and keep as active as I usually do, my back is the first sign if i’ve not been moving enough!

I have painful knees due to osteoarthritis and trauma from a fall. Glucosamine is said to be effective but it disagrees with my stomach. A neighbour of my parents told me years ago that Omega 3,6 &9 oil capsules work well. They actually do. They reduced my pain by about 80%. Some brands don't work and I finally worked out that there are different strengths so the highest is best. Things have got worse and I was booked for an op which didn't take place. I have bought two knee supports with copper in just to wear for walks. I haven't tried them yet as I have been unwell.
