I’m 42 and it’s like I don’t know what’s happening to me 😰
Had a night sweat last night woke up back scalp and chest drenched

Went to my dr once about it as I don’t know what it was and said do I need a test or something to see if going into menopause
She said no as you can get symptoms for ten years and have no further advice at all

I guess this is what’s happening to me
?
Am I Peri
menopausal ?
Should I keep a diary of how frequent this happens ?
Is there anything else I should be doing ?

Hi OP, I'm your age and am going through peri. My night sweats though only lasted a few months and haven't returned, so hopefully that will be the same for you. If you want to try to get through it with lifestyle and possibly some supplements, I've linked to a site I find very useful, as well as having info on symptoms l can't find much on anywhere else

What’s going to happen to my heat and Brain then ?
I can’t take hrt

Could be months before this happens again

Whatever might happen to your heart and brain, it's not considered as bad as a greatly increased risk of cancer (I can't take it as I'm on Tamoxifen).

Kids struggle to retain information day to day never mind 50 years

AtTheFootOfTheHill · 11/05/2020 14:43

@Lardlizard you said in your oP ''Had a night sweat last night woke up back scalp and chest drenched', then you said

''Who is having extreme symptoms ? Me ? What night sweats ?''

That's a bit confusing.

Cocobean30 · 11/05/2020 14:51

I would say as an adult it would be your responsibility to be aware of it, like pregnancy it is something your can research to get up to date information when it happens to you. Children wouldn’t remember the info by the time it happened to them anyway.

Lardlizard · 11/05/2020 15:36

I didn’t think that was extreme symptoms though I thought that was normal ? !!

See how little we all know about what’s right etc

I tend to find hot flushes etc are worse if I don't drink enough water, it's really important in menopause.

Scruffyoak · 11/05/2020 16:23

Education around periods is so bad. They definitely need to educate children about periods/menopause. It really is bad when it's so taboo or that women just have to 'get on with it' makes me so mad.

OP - I've been taking omega 3 supplements for another reason but I have found my peri menopausal symptoms have also eased since I started taking it. No idea if it's coincidence or not. But it certainly can't do any harm.

I also had OC so also not open to hormone stuff. I hadn't realised this could be true for menopausal drugs down the line too? Will have to check that out.
