Most of those flowing shrubs will probably not be evergreen. You can get variety of colour though, have a look at:
Red robin,
Pieris
Variegated Holly
Ceanothus
Pittosporum
And then the dwarf Conifers.

The flowering shrubs like in your picture would be things like buddleia, weigela, forsythia.

Have a look at what does well in your neighbours gardens to see what works well in your soil.

Ceanothus (California lilac), forsythia and Weigela also flower once a year, in the spring.

The photo isn't of a real garden, it's a composite cut and paste jobby with enhanced colour! In the real world you wouldn't plant those types of shrubs so close together and they wouldn't all flower at the same time.

Have a google for the type of garden you like and look at what's doing well in your neighbours' gardens to see what might work in your own garden.

Viburnum is great, evergreen and lovely flowers in late winter. Also grows in poor soil, shade, sun.

Look at euyonymus. Mine is very bright all year round.

ExpletiveDelighted · 10/05/2020 19:23

Euonymus I mean.

Arbutus, Mahonia, Choisya, some roses, Viburnum Eve Price, bamboo (often very vigorous so grow in a large container) various ornamental conifers (not leylandii). The choice is huge. Look online for ideas, plant soil and positonal requirements.

Garden centres likely to reopen Wednesday, after the initial crush go along see what takes your fancy and seek advice.
