Before dairy intolerance diagnosis chicken tikka paneer with cheese naan (was always so poorly afterwards, at least I now know why)

Since diagnosis I haven't been able to find a takeaway that has a dairy free meal available Sad

I haven’t had a proper curry in ages. It’s my birthday at the end of the month and as we can’t go out for dinner I think we’ll be having a curry!

Lamb pathia, korma sauce (or convince someone to get a korma and steal theirs), poppadoms, mango chutney, raita, naan (usually keema or peshwari), samosas, onion bhajis, sag aloo.... And I suppose DH can have something!

Thinkle · 10/05/2020 19:00

Just reading this whilst eating a cheese omelet Envy

@Bubblysqueak there is an awesome vegan Indian cookbook called Zaika that has lots of easy recipes.
I know it’s not the same as a takeaway though.

Bubblysqueak · 10/05/2020 19:03

Thanks for that @Thinkle think I'll give that a go.

EastMidsMumOf1 · 10/05/2020 19:04

If I'm getting it from an "English style" restaurant it would be chicken achari with a cheese and garlic naan.
If I'm getting real home style from a local takeaway then Lamb karahi desi style on the bone with roti and green chilli chutney!

Ginkypig · 10/05/2020 19:07

We deliberately always get enough to have lunch the next day.
We don't get mains just starters and sides some shared.

Roast potatoes and cashew nuts (shared)
Chicken sekua starter (Dp)
Muttar paneer side (me)
Ghee rice X1 (shared)
Chapati (1each)

Saved for lunch next day
X2 Tandoori roti (1 each)
My left over half chapati (shared)
X2 Dahl massalam side (1 each)

RiverCrossing · 11/05/2020 09:30

I went to an Indian restaurant in York at the start of the year and had the most amazing mushroom lentil dish - honestly I still think about it now! So that, if I could. But usually veggie korma, mushroom rice and some sort of naan 😊

Silverstreaks · 11/05/2020 10:30

Prawn or Chicken Chat Puree
Harially Chicken
Lamb Xacuti
Chana Masala
Corn Malai
Pilau Rice
Peshwari Nan

That used to be our ideal meal but we moved and now it's just a memory.

Eloisedublin123 · 11/05/2020 10:33

Well whatever it is I’m not sharing ( Gavin and Stacey)

Gingerkittykat · 11/05/2020 10:47

Take away 2 at home is the 3 curry meal deal for about £13.
Wow! That sounds cheap, we get 2 mains (large silver foil take away container) and 2 sides for about £25.

It's 3 small foil containers of curry and £1.50 extra for mixed pakora instead of just veg.

I live in the arse end of nowhere so when my local was not delivering I looked on Just Eat and got the shock of my life when my basket came out at nearly £30!
